The Great State of Texas

From GW:

Hi Folks,

It is that time of year when we organize something citywide (or statewide ) for everyone.

This year, Games Workshop has decided to run a Statewide Competition for the Best Hobbyists in all 3 Games (JFRAZ note, this might also incorporate BFG and EPIC gaming-initial stages on that).

Summary:

There will be several prelimary events that will determine Local Champions. Following these Preliminaries, there will be THE TEXAS CHAMPIONSHIPS on April 28-30 at the Downtown Hyatt Regency.

Make no mistake, the Texas Championships are open to everyone. Even if you don't attend a single preliminary Event, you can still sign up for the Texas Championships (and WIN). HOWEVER, at the Championships, if you have won a Preliminary Event, the scoring judge will drop your single lowest score (in a single category) and average the remaining scores.

The winners will be awarded and recognized as "Texas Champion", for their game system and category.

PRELIMINARY EVENTS

OWLCON - The Overall and Best Sportsman winners of the RTT's at Owlcon will have "Local Champion" status. This year there is a Lord of the Rings RTT on the docket! Additionally, games played at the Owlcon RTT's will count toward a player's Games Workshop Store League score. (see next...) Register now at owlcon.com

Games Workshop Hobby Center Leagues - Starting on February 13th and running through End-of-Business on March 26th, the Games Workshop Hobby Centers in Texas (including Grapevine in Dallas) will run a 6 week league. The Winners of these leagues will be awarded "Local Champion" status. $10 Entry fee. Register now at your local Games Workshop Hobby Center

Club and "Indy" Tournaments - This is a call to arms. If your clubs want to sponsor a preliminary tournament, contact me either by responding to this thread or sending me a private message here on the board. So here is the call to FRIDAY NIGHT IRREGULARS, DICE MONKEYS, ADEPTUS INEPTUS, HOUSTON WFB LEAGUE, organizers of BAYOU BATTLES, and ANYBODY ELSE I have not mentioned.

Club and Indy Tournaments that participate will be eligible for Tournament Support, Venue Support, and more freedom of structure than was available in the past.

Do you think you have what it takes to be the BEST hobbyist in TEXAS?

Your chance to find out starts on February 10th...

The Dice Monkeys would be very interested in hosting a preliminary tournament or tournaments.  I know the monkeys in our club would be all over the chance to be the Texas Champion.  So, yes tell me what I need to know.  Anyone can check out our message board at Dicemonkey.com, also we are reworking the rest of the website to include more info and if you want to make a banner for the Texas Champ then we have the room.  Let me know.

I hate to sound like an idiot but downtown where?  There are a few big cities in Texas, downtown Dallas, Fort Worth,  Houston??
If it's some where in North Texas I'm definately in, and I'll bet I can get about 10 or so more people too.
Could we also keep this thread updated with all the indy tourneys?

Thanks!

Sorry Downtown Houston. I wanted to play somewhere on 6th Street in Austin but was vetoed

Just another interested player, I'll try to post events as I become aware of them.
