These are the results that I have found while breaking down the effectiveness of each weapon available for a devastator squad using the maximum number of Heavy Bolters squads to factor in price to keep everything even which will make point costs actually matter. . .

Frag Missiles and Plasma Cannons are expected to hit 3, this is my experience with firing anything that isn?t a terminator because of the larger bases most people in my area seem to use. . . Against terminators I will use 2 as the base number. . .

Price of 12 Heavy Bolters is 15 12 180

1 Las-cannon 35 5 175

My opinion after this complete breakdown is that if you are interested in using Devastators in your army you should think about what else is your list first, but you can?t ever go wrong with Heavy Bolters. . .

Nice Work, confirms in my mind that Heavy Bolters and Missile Launchers are the only way to go. My only nit-pick is that I think against MEQ's 3 fully covered models is actually a bit ambitous. Against GEQ's (there are always plenty) it is probably a fair assumption

Anarchyman, frankly I agree with you I didn't include the range differences or people would really see that well. . . A buddy of mine uses his tactical squads with PC's & PG's and has the devastators carry the Heavy Bolters, and uses his MM land speeders for tank hunting. . .

he usually does great till he runs into the demon bomb because of the lack of assault in his army. . .

Librarianeloqui, your probably right but I usually don't see people measure the distance they put their models away from each other, I think i am going to start though since any marine on their normal base that is over 1 inch and 1/4 away will be missed completely by a small template. . . and any terminator an inch or more will as well(I just grabbed a couple minatures to check it. . .
