I remember the old fantasy RPG (probably enemy within campaign) we met a gnome that tried to introduce paper bills as money currency. Natrually we had a good laugh at this silly con-man since there is no way to make paper as valuable as metal coins.

Oh Jesus that's bad. Almost the only thing you want from a custodes character is strong stature. This guy looks so stumpy 😭

It's 6am and I already had one person that I paint stuff for texting to say they want the animals done for D&D.
I think this set may be hard to find, lol.

I think it's a combination of torso slightly too short, and a really wide cape making his silhouette look dumpy. But the longer I look at it, the stranger it looks. I really can't put my finger on what exactly is wrong with the proportions.
Big Mek looks sick, definitely picking one up.
Those gnomes are fantastic.

Hedgehog. That’s a Hedgehog.
I’d be tempted to swap one of the animals out for a Womble.

the issue with the shield captain proportions is that custodes have always been a little wonky in this regard since the range came out just before GW updated the scale. but it's less obvious on the old models because it still "feels" right. they're just standing there, looking big, so even if the legs are a little stumpy, it looks fine. but with a model like this, being in such a dynamic pose that shows off the entire body, it's hard to ignore

My gut reaction to seeing this was that someone spilled Corvus Belli's Infinity over the Orks accidentally. It reminds me of the larger heavy power armor and lighter manned TAGs from that game... but orkified. I suspect that's probably not a bug but a feature.

what is an ork doing if he's not yelling. gathering breath for another scream? why would his mouth be shut all the time if he can be screaming in battle. it just doesn't make any sense

Regarding the Shield-Captain, I think the stance is a factor in what people are reacting to. Not sure it'd translate well to 2D photography. I'd like to see it IRL, as I suspect it's going to look better.

I read the shut gob head as a sign he’s knocked his teef out to pay for some last minute scrap necessary for his toys. Automatically Appended Next Post:

Putting out the Gnome Blood Bowl team now to soften up your hearts for the Gnome Army release coming to The Old World.
The Chaos marauders look neat, but they're not trying to pull another [leans forward with eyebrow raised high] Blacktalons box are they? You're not exactly releasing the cast of Friends in miniature form here, it's W+ show, they don't command that high of a price.

The Mek model also looks like a miss to me?
Too many clean, appropriately placed, and evenly spaced rivets. A few hodge podge plates that look like they were added later in the design process in a (failed) attempt to make the weapon arms look less clean and factory assembled. The symbols are also cleanly riveted into place as opposed to roughly riveted iron plate with the symbols bashed into them on top of whatever pilfered gubbinz the mek used.

Maybe, but it’s the same aesthetic as most recent Ork models. The version with the iron gob looks better than the neo-Kruleboy head. It’s a shame this is all that is coming with the new codex - the Lootas, for instance, are really showing their age.
That Shield Captain is one of the worst WH40k models I’ve seen for a while.
