After voting off the Ogres, I suggest locking the thing as all of the others are equally blatant cultural references!

Check Osprey's Book(s) on the Landsknecht, or Foundry's Renaissance line. Identical dress, weapons and imagery to GW's "Empire" figs. ECW is a bit more advanced, Shot-and-Pike, different dress

At this point it is difficult to choose, everything left is obviously a culteral reference.

I honestly don't see much of a connection. It's too hodgepodge to make it either.

The Elector Counts and the way they pick the Emperor are stolen directly from the HRE, along with the puffy sleeves, handgunners and cannons

That's a mix of two different cultures. Thus it is neither. Why should empire get two when everything has one? And if it has two my hodgepodge point still stands: the blatant reference is not there.

I have a fair degree of confidence the catholic church does NOT have an army of power armored warrior nuns.
And I don't care what Wikipedia says.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time... |

Agree with Nyarlatothep. Doesn't matter if they're non-human, as the culture's clearly ancient Mesoamerican. It's too late though. Lizardmen are done.
