several times at the local store I heard that Warmachine and Hordes can be used together or at least against each other. what do you know about this, and what do you think? personally I like the Warmachine minis much better, but many of my friends want to start hordes, so it would be intersting to know if I can still play against them with my Cygnar Troops

Yeah they're compatible. Same core mechanics, the difference is mainly in the relationship between the hordes casters & their beasts.
In Warmachine your warcaster generates focus that is used to enhance his warjacks and cast spells.
In Hordes, your warbeasts generate Fury which your warlock takes from them to cast spells.
IF you actually look at Escalation & Apotheosis rules, a lot of them refer to both warjacks and warbeasts.

There may be some issues in boxed set games, as there are several feats that effect threshold and fury on opposing miniatures. Morghoul's feat for instance will do jack and squat in warmachine. Likewise Severius vs. Hordes (though he CAN stop them from casting spells... they'll just still be able to leach and force).

Beasts can still use their animus during Sevvy's feat.

Remember that compatible != balanced.
That being said, in crossover games, take Alten against the Hordes player :-)

Hmmm, Sorscha and Sevvy seem pretty Imba against hordes battle boxes. Knockdown? Stationary? Yeah...

You're thinking Kreoss. Sevvy stops you from casting spells and getting focus.

last weekend I tested it myself. Cygnar starter vs. Orboros Circle. it worked really well. but I was a little pissed when I almost killed his werewolf with Ironclad when he teleported them away. this Orboros Warlock is really annoying
