Craftworld Eldar had a small presence in the 3rd War for Armageddon, which is not surprising given the war spawned a major warp rift and daemon incursion as well as awoke at least a scouting force of Necrons. However, references to Eldar activity are sparse.

Here are the two I am aware of.

The 3rd War global website said the following about Eldar forces:

Clearly these point to a small, clandestine involvement in the overall war rather than a major deployment. However, that is well within the scope of a 40k game.

Is anyone aware of any further references to Eldar activity? I am particularly interested in any sources that name any Eldar groups or leaders.

Note: I am not talking about Eldrad's involvement in the rise of Ghazghkull prior to the 2nd War.

After glancing at the link, I suspect the sentence about the Eldar is primarily there to give a rationale as to why Eldar armies might be present. This is for an event that was held by GW, and they wanted to ensure that everyone could feel a reason to get involved, regardless of which army a given player used (except maybe for the Tau, who might not be able to get anywhere close to Armageddon).

That is definitely true, but also it has been presented in unambiguous terms, especially in comparison to the Tyranid line. Plus there is the back up from the contemporary subsector map.

Tau hadn't yet been added to the game when this campaign was run, that was a future problem

Well, we could assume lots of little nip/tuck/nudge/wink type interventions.

A momentary skirmish here to delay a crucial unit or mob. An Ork Nob assassinated there.

Proper hit and fade strikes. The keyhole surgery of fate.

Meta Answer: back in late 90's/ early oughts, GW did a global campaign for Armageddon in which battles would influence the lore (Unlike the 13th black crusade, which took years for Cadia to fall..) So every faction had some input, even if it didn't make a whole lot of sense. I mean, it wouldn't be fair to tell everyone "Well, it's Orks or Imperium- take your pick!" and Tau had just come out, soooo even though Armageddon is in the Sol system, they showed up too- somehow. Same with Eldar- hardcore Space Elf players wanted in on Ork killing!

Armageddon isn't in Sol. Its at the very edge of Segmentum Solar but not Sol.

Also Tau weren't released until more than a year after the Armageddon worldwide campaign ended...
