I'm putting together my Imperial Guard list for 10th edition, which, as usual with an edition change, will require painting up some models which I don't currently use. I am trying to keep to the spirit of my army and not just going with what is most competitive. I don't want to severely hamper my army though, which is why I'd like to get some thoughts on how competitive this army actually is. Here's the list:
Imperial Agent allies:
Inquisitor - Psyker, combi weapon, force sword. This is the Warlord.
Inquisitorial Henchmen - 10 Acolytes, 2 Gun Servitors with multi meltas, 2 Mystics, 1 Jokaero
Astra Militarum
Iron Hand Straken
Platoon Command Squad - Power fist, plasma pistol, standard, medic, master vox, heavy flamer and Ogryn Bodyguard with power maul and slabshield
2 Infantry Squads with autocannon, sniper rifle, vox caster and bolter
4 Cadian Shock Troops each with bolt pistol, 1 plasma gun, 1 meltagun and a vox caster
4 Chimeras, each transporting 1 Shock Troop squad. Hunter killer missiles
2 Catachan Jungle Fighter squads each with flamers and vox caster
Straken and the Platoon Command Squad join this blob.
2 squads of 3 Bullgryns. with power mauls. 2 slabshields and 1 brute shield in each squad
Hellhound with inferno cannon and hunter killer missile
2 Sentinels (2 separate squads) each with heavy flamer, chainsword and hunter killer missile
Leman Russ with heavy bolters and hunter killer missile
Leman Russ Demolisher with heavy bolters and hunter killer missile
My first thought is that perhaps I have gone a bit light in anti tank. I do have 9 hunter killer missiles in the list, mainly because they currently don't cost any points, so why not? There are ways to keep the list more or less the same but add some more anti tank options. For example the Leman Russ and Demolisher could have multi meltas and lascannons, the Infantry Squads could have lascannons instead of autocannons, the Sentinels could have something beefier than heavy flamers and the Hellhound could replace its inferno cannon with a melta cannon. Doing this would take away some of the flavour I'm going with for this army, though could solve the problem of anti tank. I guess for now at least, while wargear points costs are basically non existent, I could magnetise the models that I haven't assembled yet.
Comments on my list are welcome.
