Well damn, just spent about two weeks stripping, remodeling, rebasing, and painting, some old metal marines to be the chosen for my new list, turns out Abbadon can no longer lead them.never thought I would miss 9th edition but damn thats stupid.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think he's been able to join Chosen all edition - at the least, I don't see anything in the Dataslate indicating it has tweaked the units he can join.

Someone who has an earlier version of the CSM datacards file may be able to confirm, though.

It was a thing in 9th, but terminators were the better option, but chosen still worked decently well. It was only because of the transport changes I decided to increase the amount of chosen in my collection.

BTW, abbadon at first glance seems like he is restricted because he is technically a terminator, and chaos terminator leaders can normally only lead other terminators, but he can still take normal legionaries so that theory is out.

It especially pisses me of that the all-to-frequent changes now apply to all game modes.

Crusade was great in 9th, because all that gak only applied to Matched play.

You're correct. This isn't a change that happened within 10th, let alone have anything to do with tournaments or 'game modes'

It's nothing to do with tournament players. It's actually a "narrative" driven rule because he's in Terminator armour, so he can't lead the elite unit in power armour. This is actually a case of theme and narrative causing problems, or at least GW's interpretation of those terms.

Given he can lead regular CSM apparently it seems entirely arbitrary to me rather than narrative/tournament.

He doesn't have the normal terminator squad restrictions, it's just arbitrary.
