Got distracted by DW7, now I've started to unlock everything it's turning into a .. need to make it my first game I've compleated all achievements, situation.
Either get bored, move onto something else, or in the case of Lego games screwed over by bugs.
dajobe wrote:i have been wondereing whether to pick that up, is it worth it?
Dude....it's one of the best games that came out last year. It's made by Rockstar, so you know it's good. Has over 25 hours of playtime in the Story Mode, and has online multiplayer that's pretty enjoyable...
I'm a sucker for Westerns, but I find that everyone enjoys it. The story is reeeaaalllly good, and has one of the best endings ever. Plus, the Undead Nightmare is a really fun DLC that puts about 8 more hours into the game. I would pick it up for sure!
Looks like I might be finishing Oblivion soon, so I might pick up Mass Effect to see if that's worth a good playthrough. Last time I tried I got pissed off with the mako sequences and gave up, but maybe this time I'll manage to keep my interest going a bit better...
Playing oblivion religously currently at about 500 hours. Playing Fallout 3 as well currently about 1200 hours, games like these must be amazing if I keep coming back to them .
Santaman2346 wrote:Playing oblivion religously currently at about 500 hours. Playing Fallout 3 as well currently about 1200 hours, games like these must be amazing if I keep coming back to them .
Oh yes. Fallout 3... very addictive. I think I've done everything in there I can. Might want to start a new save... or then I'll just keep having fun all around the place.
I played about 100 hours of fallout and then ended, very satisfying. I was happy I played it through.
Oblivion is up to 110 hours or so and I'm starting to get antsy. Might finish off the Dark Brotherhood quests so I'm head of all the factions and then go complete the main quest...
Currently hanging out on the Halo Reach multi-player...
On PC I have just finished SC2 Single-player and I'm now re-playing a game I've had since i was 9 or thereabouts... Stronghold Crusader... I'm much better at it now.
I am a HUGE fallout series fan, probably about 800 hours between Fallout 3 and New Vegas(so far, am still on my 4th? maybe playthrough)...so should i get oblivion elder scrolls, ive heard its awesome and takes a while, which is my kind of game, and all the people here talking about fallout play oblivion also
I'm replaying Fallout: New Vegas. I just love that warm, fuzzy feeling I get when I watch a Centurion's head fly in the opposite direction of his body.
CoX - City of Heroes, got two characters to lvl 15 so far, hero and Villian so I can unlock the lvl 20 classes.
Really enjoying the return to it so far, and even If I did decide to let my sub lapse eventually, I already have more than 12 characters, and will keep them under the 'Freedom' scheme. So bonus.
Lost interest in trying to get another achievement for doing the main quest of FO:NV again. Just grabbed the snowglobes and 125 location ones. Think I'll call it a day there.
Back to Heroes of Newerth (which is now free to play) while I wait for Space Marine, Deus EX or SW:toR to come out. Although next week I'll be starting on the Battlefield 3 Alpha.

First you get to start the war, then you get to drive a tank, call in orbital bombardments, and use a flippin' speargun.
Just read an article on that the other day. I guess the game was a bit of a bomb for volition and they probably won't do another which is a shame. They shouldn't have taken the whole thing and put it underground.

I don't think simply putting it underground was the problem.
The problem (in many people's complaints about the game at least) was that they went from a GTA styled game, where missions and everything were all over the place and started by the player whenever they pleased for the most part, to a more common styled game where you had a set storyline that progressed.
It lost the "sandbox" feel which many people liked.

That's what I mean. They went from a open world game to a linear tunnel. Hopefully, they'll smarten up and just do a more guerilla like game instead just burying the IP.

That game is so legit online. It was a blast in its Prime. Remember all those all nighters we did during 2 a days in HS because of that game. Hahaha good times.

inFamous is fantastic. The sequel was a bit of a downer though.
Are you going to pick up Killzone 2+3? Pretty enjoyable campaigns, if linear.
Resistance 1+2 as well are quite fun, and you get to see Britain and America in ruins.

Currently playing Sins of a Solar Empire, and am having a ton of fun. Playing Infamours 1 off and on as well.
Yeah...I'm not getting Space Marine for the PS3.
I'm getting it for the 360, so I can play with Silver.
I'm playing Kill Team! I can't decide if it's a great little game or if I'm just such a 40k geek I'll roll over for anything that lets me shoot a melta.
Bulletstorm (Giant animatronic dinosaurs!) Online is pretty intense too...
Assassin's Creed brotherhood (been hooked on AC since the first one, I heard there is a new one coming out, DO WANT) again, I've had a lot of fun playing online.
And finally, Mortal Kombat, I enjoy playing with my bro and (sometimes) beating people online. You can play as Freddy Kreuger now?

I was so stoked for the Melta Gun...but then sooo disappointed with it's performance I switched back to the Plasma Rifle lol
mega_bassist wrote:I was so stoked for the Melta Gun...but then sooo disappointed with it's performance I switched back to the Plasma Rifle lol
Yeah, it seems like the plasma gun & cannon aren't as strong as the next unlockable weapon but have a crazy rate of fire. I'm home sick from work, think I'm gonna try & beat the last level with the plasma gun & see how that works. Because I'm a geek.
I'm glad this game came along. I don't have a lot of time for the Xbox these days. About two months ago I finally played The Force Unleashed II & needed something to wash the taste of disappointment out of my mouth.
Beat Halo Reach. Goddamn that was hard. It was good but I still seem to recal having more fun with Halo CE. The new updated anniversary edition coming out should be interesting.
Fun game. Bought the current collection for £13 on Steam and enjoying the idea of funnelling enemy troops into killing fields surrounded by walls with crossbowmen at every crenellation.
Well just beat LA Noire's main story. I just downloaded the DLC so Im gonna work on that the next couple days. Maybe play some Command and Conquer Generals Zero hour here and there.
I never thought the day would come but I've beaten puzzle quest 2.
I guess it's more strategic than the first one but my favorite of the series is actually puzzlequest galactrix.
coolyo294 wrote:I beat Ridley my first try, it's Metroid Prime that's the hard Boss.
See, I thought Prime wasn't that bad. Everything was color-coated! I will admit, the second portion was kinda tough, but I didn't think it was that bad.
I could never time my evasions right when I was fighting Ridley the first time; but now it's a cake walk, since I know when to jump/side dash
Currently working my way through yet another playthrough of Dark Crusade, as Imperial Guard. Also playing Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter in preparation for Serious Sam 3: BFE, and enjoying my free copy of Darksiders while I wait for Space Marine to come out.
Space Marine Demo.
I bounced away of excitement when I got my first killing move in wich I smashed an Ork towards a crate and slowly pushed a chainsword in his belly, and raised it towards his face. Look at the gore!
Currently storming through my second runthrough of ME2 (on casual this time, for speed (don't hate me!)) to get as many trophies as possible, then I'm either going to balls up and go for an insanity run, or switch to playing The Saboteur.
I've been going through my steam library beating whatever games I haven't beaten yet. Last game I finished was Saints Row 2 (Can't wait for the third one), currently going though titan quest....a rather boring singleplayer experience.
Man I haven't posted on dakkadakka for a while, but what better way to end a hiatus than with vidja gaemz?
Anyway, I've been doing some augmented shenanigans in Deus Ex Human Revolution. Been checking out the Might and Magic: Heroes 6 beta. And finally for a good chunk of the summer and still on-going, my brother and I started Tales of Vesperia, which is pretty damn good, and this is from a guy who doen't like JRPG's.
I'm actually not playing much of anything right now, though I still maintain an active subscription to City of Heroes. So I'm sorta playing that and the occasional round of Team Fortress 2.
I somehow haven't played Portal 2 yet, so I will likely pick that up sometime in the next couple weeks. Either that or Duke Nukem Forever.
I stopped playing Just Cause 2 and played through Uncharted.
Wow... what a tedious game that was. Here, go and fight waves of 4 guys at a time, do it three times in a row, and do it with about 40 shots for your biggest gun. Keep in mind though that it takes about 8 hits to down anyone, and you'll miss 2 out of every 3 shots you fire. Also remember that all your enemies can hit you perfectly with every gun they have from any range, and they never run out of ammo. And if you kill all of them apart from one, and that one kills you, you've got to go back and do the whole encounter again.
What's that? You've finished the lengthy and overly difficult combat encounter? Ok, well now you've got a lengthy plat-forming section. And you've died 6 times working out the path? That's fine. Now that you're almost at the end of this three minute plat-forming section make sure you don't die, because this game doesn't have enough mid-level checkpoints so we'll make you do the whole damned thing again if you die, even if it's the fault of the very loose controls.
Got Morrowind recently to tide me over until skyrim. Morrowind is awesome; it is at least as good as Oblivion. It actually has VARIED TERREIN lol. A few too many giant mushroom trees though.

Interesting dissenting opinion about a game that seems to get nothing but universal praise.

That's my way of saying that Soladrin has a habit of doing nothing but blazing through a game as fast as possible, ignoring almost everything, on the hardest difficulty so that he can say he did it first.
Kanluwen wrote:That's my way of saying that Soladrin has a habit of doing nothing but blazing through a game as fast as possible, ignoring almost everything, on the hardest difficulty so that he can say he did it first.
Actually, no, I got all but 3 servo skulls in that run, along with quite alot of specific little achievements too.
And no, the game wasn't meh, the time it lasts was meh.
The story is fun, the gameplay fantastic, the set pieces awesome. The final boss, epic. And there was actually a surprise in there!
MP has not done so well though, theres absolutely zero balance between the unlockable weapons and starting weapons, the un-upgraded bolter might as well be firing peas. It is somehow rather fun though Leveling is to fast too, got to lvl 8 in about 1.5 hour.
Will be achievement hunting through singleplayer tonight :3
Oh, the meh, was also aimed at the difficulty. It's not that hard, died about 5 times in all, only because of some stupid set piece/boss or just wrong load out.
Thunder Hammer + Assault pack = invincibilty btw.
Vengeance launcher is useless on hard. All you need is the lascannon and melta.
Coolyo294 wrote:The first Uncharted was bad, but the second one was amazing.
That's what everyone keeps telling me - and I really hope it's true. I mean, I liked the story and characters in the first game (as cliched as they were), and really that's what kept me playing, but the platforming controls were sketchy at best and the combat was mostly a chore (I actually rage-quit during the last fight... I haven't done that during a game since the third Prince of Persia). I had the most fun, believe it or not, with the vehicle sections. You had unlimited ammo in those sections, so worrying about ammo whilst trying to hit someone 8 times with a Colt Carbine wasn't such a worry - just hold down the trigger and go for broke!
And speaking of Prince of Persia, I regard Uncharted 1 on the same level as the second Prince of Persia game - Warrior Within. I like the concept of the game, there were some truly inspired moments that were lots of fun and I liked the story, but it's not a game I'd ever play again except as part of a 'marathon' of all the games. There were parts in Uncharted 1 that were as frustrating if not more so than some of those fething Dahaka chases within Warrior Within. I just hope that Naughty Dog have managed to have a faster 'getting it right' phase than Ubisoft did with the PoP games. First one was perfect except for punishingly difficult and tediously long combat, the second game was fine except for punishingly difficult platforming sections and a loss of a lot of the fun of the original PoP (but the combat was 10 times improved). The third PoP finally struck the right balance - excellent platforming, appropriate difficulty, entertaining combat, and you could even skip the combat by using stealth. If not for those damned chariot sections (hence the aforementioned rage-quit) it would have been perfect.
I don't want to have to wait for the third Uncharted game for them to get it right...
Battlefield Bad Company 2! Loving it, stopped playing for quiet some time but after spending a bit of time finding decent servers I have officially relapsed. When the matches are competitive and without 10 snipers per 16 man team it is a blast.
Just finished Space Marine. Boss fights were dissapointing, didn't like what they did with the lascannon and melta, but all and all it wasn't as bad as the demo made it out to be. Never felt like combat was getting repetitive.

What did they do with the melta
Anyway, contemplating if I should go servo skull hunting, or just wait for the unstoppable arrival of a good hunting guide somewhere on the interwebs.
Shotgun is a really bad term to use for the Melta. It has the same general principles, in that it has a fairly wide 'cone' with the closer you are to the business end of the meltagun, the deader you become.
It still does significant damage further away, but it's not instagibbing you into a pile of mush.
Kanluwen wrote:Shotgun is a really bad term to use for the Melta.
Ok...

So... it's a FPS shotgun then?
So, no, I'm going to go with my initial assessment - the Meltagun is this game's shotgun (rather than a heat-ray beam thing... or 'stream' really would more accurate, as it's super-heated air, not a beam of energy).
Killing Floor. So close to getting free lever action! (675 more headshots!) i only wish they had kept some of the summer specimen skins. the clown clots looked alot creepier than the normal ones.
IIRC GoW3 has the last 2 Carmine brothers in it (or at least 1 - because it was left up to fans to vote if he should live or die, although I don't know the outcome).

Was playing SupCom: FA, and throroughly enjoying how there's no "Cease Fire" option on the Scathis, so they destroy my economy by firing blindly at everything that comes into range, and nuke my own base when it's too fast for my point defenses.
Homeworld 2 and all the mods I can get me grubby mits on, and Lionheads the Movies. Combine both (with the aid of Fraps and Windows movie maker) and you get a sim game that you can make a movie from

Good choice! Really depressing that there's probably never going to be a homeworld 3.
I'm playing Fallout at the moment as it's one of the RPG classics that I've missed. I'm supposed to be wiping out these supermutants but they're not easy (I can take out one, perhaps two at a time, but if there's a mob I'm doomed). Does anyone know what level i should be before I go for their base? Should I bring better guns? I've got an SMG, Hunting rifle, combat shotgun and a .223 pistol but they're not as effective as I'd like against these guys.
and embarrassingly enough Sims 3 because my girlfriend wanted to play it and I kind of got sucked into it. I'm actually finding it more addictive than the former.
At the moment? Angry Birds Rio.... I know I know, but it's more addictive than a lot of the trash that has been released recently. And when I'm at home its Doom 3 (again) and the Sega Classics Collection. Best £10 I ever spent!
Fallout: New Vegas (straight since its been out ¬¬) and Alpha Protocol- sure it got bad reviews, but for £1.50 off of Steam I'm game. ...And it wasn't half bad either. Pity it kind of funneled you into shooting everything in sight for the last mission. =/
At this very moment, I'm playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but I also have Demon's Souls to start, Space Marine Multiplayer to grind through, and Wipeout Fury HD to amuse me.
asimo77 wrote:Since it finally came to PC I've been spending my time with "Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes".
Any game that combines RPG elements with puzzle mechanics is like crack to me. So many good times with the Puzzle Quest's...
Anyway I highly recommend it, there's a demo on Steam.
I'm playing that too. It's good but wearing a little thin for me now.
I find the MP to be quite addictive, then again I have the luxury of having a brother to play with. At the same time even it takes 20 hours to get boring then that's still a pretty good value for a 15 dollar game IMO. Also it was originally a DS game so the loss of portability might have something to do with it.
Happygrunt wrote:Call me an Indy Snob, but I got the Humble Frozenbyte bundle, so I am excited to try some TRINE and Frozen Synapse. Shadowgrounds looks good too.
Other than that, Oblivion, BRINK and Space Marine. (Last two on my PS3)
Trine is one of my favourite games ever, nothing indie/hipster about liking awesome stuff.
- Completely over the top action when you beat up angels etc.
- Lovely combo's and seem almost endless. Oh and those torture moves...
- Epic bossfights when you use your hair as a conduit to another dimension and pull out your own monster (made of your hair) to beat the snot out of the bad guy.
- Equip weapons in both your hands and on your feet, for example 2 pistols in your hands and 2 rocket launchers on your feet. Though my favorite combo is Katana with Fireclaws!
Take the above and top it off with a lovely J-Popped version of Sinatras "Fly me to the moon" and you got yourself a real kick*** game!
Still playing New Vegas and Prototype. The latter is actually a really terrible game, but it's actiony and I can murder things without consquences so whatever :V
Looking forward to Assassin's creed: Revelations, Mass Effect 3, official minecraft release and Borderlands 2!
Got about 9 1/2 hours in RAGE right now. Buy my attention is dropping fast. The combat is fun but doing the same thing or being forced into those wretched racing matches is taking it's toll.
Necroshea wrote:Got about 9 1/2 hours in RAGE right now. Buy my attention is dropping fast. The combat is fun but doing the same thing or being forced into those wretched racing matches is taking it's toll.
I'm past the halfway point at 9 hours, and I only recall 2 races that were forced. The first and the Smash TV sponsored race to get a Cupino. Others were just there to get upgrades for your car, upgrades that you can get by killing bandits in vehicular combat. I think I've done a grand total of 3 races, one I did for fun.
Well, thing is I HATE racing games and racing activities in general because they bore me to tears. I'm playing hard mode, and I have to race to get the car upgrades or else I get blown up fighting bandits. The weapon matches manage to make things marginally better, but not by much, as it's still racing (except for rally).
Also PC controls for weapon racing is terrible. Using f1-f4 while navigating turns and getting shot at is a terrible idea.
So....yeah lol, even being forced into racing once is painful for me. I'd much rather go through smash TV several times (which is what I did) then race once.
You can cycle weapons by pressing caps lock as well. Though it has the annoying tendency to have you type in all caps if someone messages you over steam.
I didn't realise there would be such a big gap between normal and hard with car damage. On normal, against minigun cars, you can basically just slide in behind them and hammer until they're dead, and hit Shield whenever a rocket buggy shows up. Then, again, slide in behind them and hammer them.
I rarely end up with less than 3/4 car health left.
I havent used any of the sheilds/repair items for the cars. Now that i am further into the game occaionally my car is trashed by the end of the longer battles. The enemy missiles are a little too homing for my liking, you have to be very skillful to avoid them, and mostly i cant. Suppose thats what the sheilds are for.
The racing is INCREDIBLY easy, and i am not a racing game nut at all. Anyone who is half decent in a 'hog will breeze through them imo.
Being a console player, i just pick two/occasionally three guns leave the last slot blank and cycle through them. In the mutant missions i just equip the machine gun and shotgun.
Finally grinded out that last bit of Might & Magic and beat it. Last boss was quite hard too. Going to continue grinding out more levels on Borderlands.
Just about to throw Rage out of the window, I got everything except one achievement, the 100% completion one.
Why? Because one side quest requires items that are stated as being junk the entire game (Even having a dollar sign icon for item class). All of sudden, you need 20. Guess what? Sold them all, and they don't respawn. Have fun.
I started playing Dead Island over the weekend and I've really enjoyed it thus far...and still playing some Space Marine online when I'm bored smashing zombie faces

Sims 3, oddly on the xbox. Just finding I'm actually enjoying it more than the PC version.
Thats seems odd because you can do so much more with the PC version. Change every house in the game, fill the entire town with Sims you created. However thats seems to have left me spending way much more time doing that, collecting new items and clothes from places like The Sims Resource, than actually playing on my PC.
The fact I can lean back on my sofa and chill as I play is also a big bonus.
Mass Effect 2. Thought I might as well play it while waiting forever for my new ISP sort out an internet connection for me meaning I can't play multiplayer Space Marine.
Definitely an improvement over the first but they seem to have gone from one extreme to the other regarding weapons/armour ie from loads to practically none. I don't like the fact that you have ammunition now either, preferred the heat levels in the first.
Minor niggles aside it is an awesome game and I'm enjoying it a lot.
Um, playing a lot and just switching between them, but here goes, all for PS3:
Bioshock - Loving it! Awesome game, actually intelligent AI, all that stuff.
Assassin's Creed - Meh, already almost beat it once, just biding my time until I get the second one. Good game, but repetitive.
Dragon Age: Origins - Fun, but it really seems MMO-like and the monsters are lacking in variety. Somewhat repetitive.. And SO MUCH TALKING!
Dead Space - Only really started this one so far, seems to be pretty innovative. Really reminds me of DOOM, but not Mars.
Castlevania(the 3d one, forget the name) - Not bad, but I think I really prefer the platformers myself.
As far as PC I'm playing World of Tanks and Atlantica, but I haven't been playing those too too much. Oh, and a bit of Oblivion.
Been playing Sims 3 Pets on the 360 now, really like some of the changes, more casual and easy to get lost in playing, rather than buiding lots and modifying the towns folks like I end up doing on the PC.
Will probably gets Pets for my PC game eventually, but not for a bit yet. Think I might wait till I upgrade my PC next year, its starting to get clunky after three years. My town is starting to have lag issues, need more RAM, and a better HD.
Just started playing 'Terranigma' again...anyone who hasn't heard of this game should really play it. If you can find it, and if you still have a SNES....

Playing a lot of games right now, but in order of how much I'm actually playing them:
PS3:
Assassin's Creed II - Loving it so far, infinitely better than the first
Bioshock - Amazing game, the AI is amazing and the physics are great
Dead Space - I'm not a huge fan of horror games, but this one isn't bad by any means. The interface is quite good, and it has some good mechanics, but it reminds me of DOOM(which was a better game in some ways)
Castlevania(forget which one, not the platformer) - Not bad
Dragon Age - Meh, ok story, lots of talking, kinda repetitive and not enough variety in enemies. Good for MMO fans though, as it is similar in some ways
PC:
World of Tanks - Grindy, but that's unavoidable. Very nice combat, realistic, accurate
Atlantica Online - Not a bad game, the turn-based combat is a nice change for an MMO
Oblivion - Fun game, but doesn't run too well on my comp, which is ancient
Medieval II - Love it love it love it. Most fun playing a campaign with a friend though
Dawn of War II - going through the campaign
Dawn of War: Dark Crusade - going through the campaign as CSM
I might start playing GRID more as well as other games with a controller on my PC... its a lot easier to use a gamepad now with PC games then it was when I was younger.
