I've got $20 on your Defiler kicking the crap outta Megatron in a straight-up fight.

Amazing work. Adding the color on the eyes really did it up right.

Here's the almost finished Lords. Firstly you are presented with Father:

And his progeny, Spawn:

Up until recently, having these models finished meant I was really really really really close to finishing the entire army... Now I actually have 5 more terminators and 10-11 more chaos marines to finish off.

Damnit it's never ending!!!

The lighting effect on the Iron father's legs and base is awesome and both models are very evocative.

I really, really, really think the cog symbol on the power axe shouldn't be painted the 'powered' blue, it just looks wrong.

Overall, very beautiful and inspiring.

I do agree with Yak about the skull-cog, but otherwise more excellent stuff. And I guess you picked up more reinforcements for the lads? How sad for us

In other news, I can't wait to get back to my CSM after seeing your madness again ...

Great work, though I concur on the skull cog. It just doesn't feel right to me.

Could we get a closer look at lord jr? The helmet in particular.

I'm with cogs being painted not blue, they could be powering the weapon, not being powered. But holy hell, these are incredible.

SM- Lets roll to see who goes first
Nob- Urgh...ok, I got a 6
SM- Oops, looks like I got an 8, so I go first
Nob- You got a 8 on a 6 sided die?
SM- Um, yep.
Nob- Space marines.....

Yeah, I'm with the others about not painting the cogs or skull blue.

Out of curiosity, what is the space heater behind the Father's head do? Keep his bald pate warm?

Now, this thread should be shown to everyone who claims that chaos lost character with the new codex.

I dare to say that this army has more character than any of the armies that people came up with using the previous codex.
Apparently you don't need 9 oblis to field an Iron Warriors army.

I am not really certain how showing someone a exceedingly heavily converted chaos army demonstrates that the new codex is awash in character. If anything it says "Get ready to spend months upon months building your tanks and guys from scratch, otherwise they will just look like spikey marines."

I think Jirga makes a decent point, or does so in paraphrase anyway. Chaos as a physical army on the table allows for a deranged amount of modeling freedom, and nowhere is this better displayed than in Lemming's work right here. Chaos as an armylist used to let you be as creative in how the army actually functioned as you could be with how the army looks. This is no longer the case, but needn't mean the death of creativity. I think Jirga was suggesting that the loss of min/max conceptions of IW (read: most Chaos lists in the last years) builds allows hobbyists to in fact be more creative (i.e. unchained from fluff / powergaming, as neither are very viable any longer) and expand into doing whatever they choose from the new codex. Case in point, my bro's IW have since become heavily bionik-ed "T5 with FNP" marines with the new codex, spurring on some serious modeling to match different, previously unavailable rules.

But ironically, IW can still take 9 obliterators, as can all their evil buddies

Now Lemming, we need more models to render me speachless again

Perhaps I should have said "Chaos lost stock character, but you can still mangle the models to look like whatever you want."
I feel I would be remiss if I did not point out that "counts as" does not count as "character." It counts as "the current models/rules for the forces suck, so I am going to make different ones as it pleases me."
Now, I do agree that having more options is good, but really, taking out flavorful game mechanics doesn't add character. It only makes it easier to have a bunch of armies differentiated only by what color they are.

After all, I could (theoretically) make all my exorcists 10" tall walking pulpits with pipe organs on their backs, so long as they still counted as Exorcists and sort of filled up the same space as the models. I could then take all my girls and melt them down, recasting them into bikini babes with bolters and giant riot shields, and say "See, these are the Baywatch patrol, making sure there is no heretical swimming on the beach!"
For that matter, I could just as easily say they are plague marines, only you can't see their "gifts" at a glance (bring penicillin).

In other words, fantastic modeling doesn't mean an army list has character, but is external to it, brought by the player. An army list has character when no matter what models are used to represent the figures, someone playing against it can guess the list by how it plays out.

Well, here is the last of whats needed for the tourney list. I'm gonna slow down on Iron Giants updates for a bit because...well I'm sick of building and painting them! Painting mostly...

After this it'll probably be back to the orks and the models I have to finish off for that army. We'll see.

Pics of the rhinos, I haven't spent as much time on painting these, but they'll still serve the purpose well enough. I could've tidied them up a lot but...honestly...I'm over them...lol!

I no loger believe that those are build from scratch. come on lem, you're kidding. you build the things out of cardboard, plasticcard and bits? I don't see it.

...which probably means that you are awesome....

If you wouldnt have told us, i wouldnt have know. I actually like the paintjob on these alot since they just look used and worn. As it should be.
So I guess its time for a full army shot??

My god! I couldn't believe those rhinos were scratch built until I saw that pic. Awesome job.

Just out of curiosity though...I'm nowhere near skilled/patient enough to build them like that myself, but on a time/money/frustration ratio, isn't it just better to buy the GW rhinos? Maybe I'm missing something.

Ps. Loving the army upto now, very good job.

Do you have a pattern you use for such things? Do you print it out directly on paper/thin card? Will you sell it to me?

The answer to these questions, and more, coming up!

GW rhinos are $30 for a 35 point vehicle ...

Lemms are automatically a better point-per-dollar value

Coming soon, to a pc near you...

This weekend I'll be having a 1750 pt game with this army against a few friends so we'll see how that goes. I'll get some pics and hopefully do a little fashion parade at the end for all you guys.

As for the rhinos, I just couldn't afford to buy any for a while, I built these ages ago. The card thickness isn't something I'm sure on, I had to find all sorts of thicknesses to make it work but yeah - don't know any guages.

The templates are available on the web, yahoo groups BWC archive is a good source. Pretty straightforward too.

Ok guys, to start with, here are the current full army shots (sans Unpainted models):

And a few games shots from the weekend and a time before that. I couldn't be bothered with a blow by blow coz ... well ... I can't remember. All I remember is the Black Widow blowing up first turn in 2 different games...

And some fight scenes:

It's really sad to see your awesome conversions and painting crashing against unpainted half assembled garbage. Let your friends borrow your other armies in the future.
