This is a sweet concept, but yes it needs more of a "rebuilt" look

Looks like Ork on a Dark Eldar Raider.

In my mind it should look more like it was shot down, stepped on, then picked up by orks, the orks then realizing that they cannot figure anti-grav out, putting wheels on it and then using it.

And they should definitely not keep it clean.

I realize that you have built it and painted it, and so aren't likely to change anything about it now. I just find that sad as the model, as it is right now, is rather lame.

The inner ork in me is screaming; "Putting ork models and a handfull of glyphs on a vehicle does not make it looted!"

To be honest that was what I was going for. I was going for the Pirate theme rather than the looted theme.

I'm a gamer, not a modeller. I only started 40K this year and are not confident enough to get too adventurous with my modelling just yet.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

No problem. We all start somewhere.

In my experience when doing ork conversions it is very hard to overdo it.

Taking a clipper to the original model (making big holes and cutting off corners) and then patch it up orkstyle with plasticcard (remember to let plates overlap) usually gives a great result.

Yea I get that, we all started fresh once. Ive found that over the years, the best way to get decent or good with conversions, is to just jump into it with Orks. Give it a bit of thought. For example " I want a looted raider so heres some ideas" Then just jump into it, lob a chunk off with a saw or something, then you HAVE to fix it, and in most cases it ends up looking pretty damn good.

The only suggestion I have, is that if you are going for the pirate look, that you should perhaps look at some of the pirate ork conversion bitz over at maxmini...

maybe use these?
