I saw a list earlier of Mech IG. The author wasn't sure what he wanted to spend the rest of the points on and mentioned using DT Sentinels.

I checked the Dex, and sure enough, it doesn't say they can't be combined the way it does with other Doctrines.

The point.... Is this ok? Can they be combined?

Personally, I like it and would like to use it. I just don't know how kosher it is.

No reason why not. You won't have a lot of options, in terms of what to drop (all your Guard infantry units will be Chimerae, and hence not dropping), but you could bring Sentinels in that way.

Ok, makes sense when you put it like that.

What about Vets? Could they be "dropped" also? Or am I correct in believing that only the Sentinels could drop?

Yeah, vets can drop. But then you aren't infiltrating them, which is always nice, if for nothing more than to push back your enemy's infiltrators.

EDIT: That's right.  I was wrong.  See below.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

Vets can't drop in a mechanized infantry army..  The mechanized doctrine states that every Guard Infantry unit must take a Chimera which inccludes Vets.... and any unit that has a transport can't Deep strike

Doh. How did I miss the part about mechanized? Son of a mother. I've been found guilty as charged for not paying attention to the entire thread! Damnit.

So use Grenadiers instead of Mech, you still get lots of mech troops but leave open DS options for vets ect.

Big problem with that -- Grenadiers can't buy lascannons or missile launchers. Its doable, but hard.
