Subject: Any guides out there for new players?

My regular 40k opponents and I are going to start Warmachine soon, and I am looking for any online players guides that can give an experienced wargamer a heads up on tactics, trends, common lists, etc. Anyone know of such a resource?
Thanks.

Well the Privateer Press boards were great for beginners, the older posts and the stickied ones are still chock full of quality. I'd give my thoughts, but what do I know?

Thanks, carmachu. I knew about the GM site. A great resource for unit by unit advice. PP's forums had some useful stuff, but often it was too specific or not newb friendly. Its good to read up on some tricks going around competetive play.

Btw, I picked up a khador battlegroup, a khador mortar team and the Prime book. Should be good enough for a start and give me a reason to stop painting gaunts (After 4 years of playing nids: 32 down, only 80 more to go ).

PP's site is great,IF you know where to look. In the stragey and tactics board, there are each a faction board. Click there. At the top, sticky is condensed tactics for each faction. If yuo have something specific, ask.

Cant say much about tactics and lists yet. But I too have a regular 40k group and a bunch of us play Warmachine. I love it! It is loads of fun. I love the page five commentary, and really lightens the game in my mind. I am not sure if I am going to play Menoth or Khador. I cannot decide.

The privateer press forum's and the fan sites that are listed there are simply the best online resources I have found for any game that I have played. Check there down load sections for some great wall papers and reference guides too. I said this to some of the other guys around here (dakka home base), but where else do the creators of the game monitor and participate in discussions and rule questions. -Jay

Yes its really refreshing that the designers will actually listen to waht you have to say when rules questions arise....instead of blaming the customer

Achilles, the dakka folk are referring to the UK white dwarf that, I think, Andy stated that only dubius players use a certain tactic to win games. for the life of me I cant remember what that tactic was....damn alcohol...i think it brain my damaged!

www.warmachine.mgna.com Best site out there for a beginner. I do have to say, the Winterguard Mortars though aren't the best buys out there without a ton of Winter Guard. I'm in the same boat though, I have two Trencher Chain Gun crews.

Don't forget Pete Haines' little rant in WD300 about how we could have just made up the movie marines rules ourselves instead of him having to do.... his job. It's more a lack of respect thing than a 'it's the customer's fault' thing.
How long do you think that signature's gonna last Fabulous?

Oh no, it was funny, I'm just wondering what Gonads would have to say about it. Then again, he hasn't posted in a couple weeks.
