Subject: Command squad terminator honors

Ok, this has been bothering me for a while. If I decide to buy terminator honors for my command squad, do I have to buy it for every member of the squad? Or can I buy it for just a few models? The way it's worded, I could see it be interpretted either way. Just curious, as I REALLY don't want to have to pony up a BUNCH of points to buy my standard bearer one of the Dark Angel Special Standards (the Standard of Devastation, specifically).

Ahoy! Wouldn't the Standard Bearer be able to buy the Standard of Devastation without Terminator Honors? I'm fairly sure he can ...

Not with the advent of the new marine codex. With the old marine codex, standard bearers could just buy a standard without having to get the honors. The Dark Angel codex just defaulted to use that portion of the marine codex, which is it's parent codex.
With the new codex, only characters with terminator honors can buy stuff from the armory. So to buy a standard, I must ensure my standard bearer has the honors. To ensure my standard bearer has the honors, I have to buy it for all of them.
So a 40 point special standard (Standard of Devastation) now costs at LEAST 95 points (30 for the terminator honors for the "other 3 marines" in a min. size command squad, 25 to upgrade one to a standard bearer, and 40 for the actual standard). That's made all the worse as I prefer my command squads to be 8-10 men strong, bringing the total up to 125-145 without any other specialists, which I like to take.
In poker parlance... "Too rich for my blood."

Look at the FAQ Dark Angels Codex update at GWs web site http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/spacemarines/gaming/FAQ/assets/dark_angels_faq_v4-1.pdf It states to ignore the DA Book Command Squad entry and use the entry on pg 29 of the Space Marine Codex. Stanard Bearer with Company Standard is 15pts for the model plus 25 to make him a Standard Bearer.

Ugh. In the SM Codex these guys are called "specialists", they aren't buying wargear. If you do give everyone term honors the "specialists" (and sgt of course) may buy wargear also, the regular HQ squad members may not. So the 40pt Standard Bearer would need term honors (10), plus the SoD (35pts- this may have changed from 40pts), would be 85 points by himself. 297 points for a minimal squad with capt.
