I don't know if these have been covered:  Just looking for the quick answer - (I did scroll back about 5 pages looking)

1 - Sheild Drones - They have the Sv and T value of the models they are attached to.  However, under majority save rules, if say an 6 man XV-15 team has 2 shield drones and takes a meltagun hit, since the shield drones are now modified to 4+I and the stealth suits have no save against this gun, a stealth suit would be removed as a casualty.

- Is this the correct interpretation?

2 - Tau landing gear - if a vehicle is stationary during its movement phase, it counts as landed.  Do Tau vehicles start the game landed or skimming?

1. no. They all have the same regular save, as per the "close protection" rule.

2. no. It states they gain no landed bonuses during the first turn of the game.

Just so you know Armour save is a Armour save. A Inv. Save is a Inv. Save. It doesn't matter if something has an Inv. Save when choosing who is hit.

Ie.  A space marines has a Dev Squad with 2 Lascannons/Mulitimelta and a Tactical Squad in range of my 3 Broadsides w/ 2 shield drones.  The Tac Squad fires first and only wounds with a Plasma gun.

I take the wound on a Broadside because I have 2 wounds and it doesn't insta kill.  The Dev Squad shoots next and does 3 wounds.  Now I can take 2 saves for the Drones and then lose the wounded Broadside.

There are ways of making the system work for you.

1. no. They all have the same regular save, as per the "close protection" rule.

Having the same Armour Save makes no difference. The rules state on page 24 that when a unit takes wounds from shooting, you begin by removing those models who do not get a Saving throw and then rolling for the remaining wounds from the models that are left.

So, according to those rules, you would in fact be obliged to take a Stealth suit first, as he does not get a saving throw against a meltagun, whereas a Shield Drone does.

As I explained in the 'Problems with the Tau Codex' thread, I don't believe that is the way they intended for the rules on page 24 to be applied, as they are dealing primarily with hits from different weapons, rather than units with different Saves... but it IS how the rules are written. Just one more contributing factor to the mess that is mixed saves in 4th edition 40K.

Bah, didn't realize it was a meltagun.

You guys continue to find ways of not reading rules right. Remember the armour is armour save and inv is a inv save. Know it, live it.

And your point is?

I'm well aware of the difference between an Armour Save and an Invulnerable Save. The Saving Throws section does not distinguish betwen them. It merely states that models that do not get a Saving Throw must be removed first.
