Considering getting myself an arcade cabinet. One of those with multiple classic games pre-loaded.
They’re easy enough to find online, and within my budget. But, does a single seller offer a list of the games that are loaded? Seemingly not.
Don’t suppose anyone has any guidance here?
What is this you speak of?
Can you provide an example of this cabinet thing you speak of ? Is it like a gaming rig with an emulator run off your desktop or something?

With current hardware techology there is no reason why every dingle one of these would not contain every single game...
They are wll like less than 1MB games and you can play them in a browser.. bit of a dick move to only give you 10 games or so...

Mmmm, my partner made an arcade cabinet with a uni society she was a member of years ago during our undergrad. Think they used a Raspberry Pi as the computer. Can't remember how many games they loaded onto it but was quite a few.

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.

Sweet Jesus look at the prices of those. You can get an original JAMMA cabinet for a few hundred quid. It’ll be a Pandora’s box inside them, depends on which one they have for a games list. You can get a Pandora’s box for about £30-40.
I’ve got 5 arcade cabinets in my house and the most expensive one at the time was ~£800 (Sega Blast City).
If you’re interested in Arcades you can always sign up for the UKVAC forums. Lots of knowledgeable people there.

Ah awesome, I would love one of these! Those one look ideal, massive selection of games and UK distribution so you don't have to mess around with importing.
One thing I would be conscious of (although think the ones you have linked are fine), machines like the Aracade 1up in particular are much smaller and you need to put on risers to be playable at a normal 'adult' height - those machines tend to be a fair bit cheaper, in the £200-300 range.
This thread is a couple year old necro, but since the last two years kind of failed to exist its probably still relevant.

Update on this; it wasn't a summer 2020 project, but I did make it happen in 2021. Ended up building a cabinet from a kit along with a 4 stick setup running off a monitor and raspberry pi. Really love it for the kind of quick games that made the arcades great, to the point where I'm considering upgrading it to a real PC to use the setup for modern stuff like FighterZ and -Strive-
Automatically Appended Next Post: It's worth noting because what I said above sounds complicated, its really not. An arcade cabinet is mostly just that, a cabinet. Like, its the same basic components as any gaming setup. You need the computer part, some controllers plugged into it and a monitor/speakers to output to. The classics ran on dedicated chipsets, but these days you can plug a PS4 or something into an HDMI monitor and call it a day. The cabinet is just a piece of furniture holding it together.
The most daunting thing is the whole Raspberry Pi thing, because its one of those things that tech nerds LOVE to make sound more complicated than it actually is. They're just cheap little computers. These days when you boot them up the first thing they ask is what OS you want to load with dedicated arcade setups as one of the top options.
In terms of I/O though we're talking USB inputs and HDMI out. Pretty easy to use just about anything as the brains behind it and play whatever kind of games you want.

One I've seen mentioned on several retro/arcade channels is the iiRcade machine(s). It comes with some games built in and you can purchase officially licensed games as well if piracy isn't you're thing.
Atgames also has a multi game machine, in several varieties.
There are more going over details I'm just keeping it simple with two J Riggs vids.

Well. You see.
I’m a gentleman of a certain and unspecified vintage. As a result, I may or may not have spent many hours and much money in arcades as a youth. So there’s a nostalgic appeal in not only playing those old games again, but recreating the original experience as much as possible.
Then there’s the other issue that as a gentleman of a certain unspecified vintage, who lives independently and has a comfortable enough income that I’m lucky enough to not be living pay cheque to pay cheque, I have this thing called “disposable income”, and I can do with that as I bloody well please.
Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?
Eh, no harm done. Actually excited to talk about it since I actually followed through. Happy to answer any questions from anyone looking to do the same.

Well remember to wipe, maybe shower and Chuck your scuddies in the wash.
Oh….wrong follow through…
I’ve not taken the plunge just yet. I have sorted out my gaming/office room, but there’s still some old furniture I need to ditch so I can rearrange for a full on cabinet.
Also really want one with Street Fighter, because I’ve traditionally sucked at that game! Bit of Mortal Kombat wouldn’t go awry either.

Would definitely be interested to see how you get along with it!
One of my dreams (really probably just a pipe dream) is to have my own retro video gaming store. Have an arcade machine or two in there for people to come in and play etc.

Yeah, those were high on my list as well. The only one I've struggled to get to work on the Pi is 3rd Strike. A PC is fine, but not the Pi. Sadly, no one seems to have gotten MvC2 working etiher. There's a lot of classics in the genre that really hold up. I think Alpha 2 has cemented itself as my favorite of the SF games, though 3rd Strike and Super Turbo are fantastic. Vampire Savior still holds up really well and the original MvC is actually a lot better than I remember.
I've never been an MK fan, but MKII plays pretty well. The SNK stuff is a real joy though. Of note, Last Blade 2 is one of the best games I've ever played in the genre that I hadn't ever had a chance to play. SNK put an absurd amount of work into the animation of their games and it really, really shows in both LB2 and Garou. King of Fighters '98 is also just a fantastic game that's well worth playing.
