Recently started a new job. My new job is very numbers heavy and has me interact with a lot of clients. I’m currently a bureaucrat. It’s quite demanding and I leaves me slow in the head in the evening. What do you guys like to play in that state? Looking for some suggestions. I found that game’s where you build stuff works pretty well, like Rimworld (excited about the dlc tomorrow!). If I want action I struggle though because action games generally seem a bit too demanding for my tired mind. Like synthetic works alright I guess. But yeah, curious what people play after. I only own a PC but intend to buy a Switch soon.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary. |

World of tanks is quite good for that I think. Actiony, but the pace is slower than mega twitch FPS stuff. It has other problems, like the matchmaking algorithms, but the game is good fun. I also had good fun with No Man’s Sky as a gentle adventure/crafting game. You can play at a slow pace with nothing much out to get you but explore massive worlds.

Slower strategy stuff, like:
Civilization
Tropico
Jurassic World: Evolution
Or stuff that doesn't need a major time investment, like the remake of Tony Hawk 1 & 2

You will probably laugh at me, but I find 'courier' type games to be the most relaxing. Euro Truck simulator, flying a transporter ship in Elite and carrying trade goods, even just picking up customers in a taxi in GTAV. The key is it can't be too stressful because of time constraints (so Crazy Taxi would be no good). I'm always after more recommendations of this type of game if anyone has any!

Wow really WoT? I honestly found that one of the most stressful games ever. Like you say the matchmaking is crap, you can pay to win by buying shells, and you are either in a team which plays well, or one that self-destructs, which is immensely annoying (and not very relaxing!) I actually didn't mind it as a game if you treat it as a bit of fun and non-historical deathmatch game but it always used to knock my blood pressure up a fair bit.

Someone mentioned Civilization. I’ll second that. It’s turn based strategy that doesn’t require a lot of micromanagement or thinking on your feet. Learning curve isn’t much of an issue either.

World of Tanks is more like World of Snipers in function - its about knowing the best spots on the map to hide; hiding and then sniping the enemy before they snipe you. Esp since most tanks can only take a few hits before exploding.
World of Warships is far more relaxing; you can take and dish out hits and its not purely about sniper hiding. Plus it has VS AI which can be somewhat easier for just dropping in for random matches.
As noted - WoT has issues if you random team in having teams that just do daft things; which can make it harder to learn because then you don't have good role models to pick up tips from
Personally I'd say head toward builder and turnbased style games. Games where you can spend hours playing or 5 mins and which don't mind if you suddenly stop even without pausing or just play slow.
If you like Jurassic Evolution there's a sequel coming. There's also Planet Zoo which is far more detailed in terms of building.

Yeah, Civ 6 was my go to for my hour of dead time between work and dinner. But 6 has (still, after 5+ years) been crashing on me regularly, so I gave up and uninstalled. Now forcing myself to exercise in that timeslot.

Civ4 is the high spot for me. I've picked up Civ6 recently and have dabbled in it a bit, but I'm not keen on a lot of the changes.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I think I like most of the suggestions. I’m really into civ and just got into no man’s sky. Might give world of tanks a go since it seems so appreciated, though I’m a little scared of getting instantly destroyed by better players. Played the hell out of Skyrim but might be a comfy choice. Never actually finished the main quest anyway, ha!

If you like building things while relaxing after work highly recommend Kingdoms and Castles. Very simple kingdom building game and great way to relax without thinking too much.

I’ve come to the decision that no man’s sky is great for this. It’s a bit boring ordinarily but when tired it’s quite a blast. The slow easy non-threatening gameplay is really good when tired. Thanks again for the suggestions everyone!

Steam, actually. It was released there for the PC a little while back. Though according to the posted reviews, it works a lot better with a game controller

IDK if we're at all alike in how we purge stress through games, but you said Rimworld and DAMN am I ever here for that little masterpiece.
So! For me when it comes to getting rid of those post-work blues, though chill games are good - shoutout to singleplayer minecraft on this front, just like, a good way to manage resources, have a list of stuff you wanna get done, but also pretty enough, and there's plenty of freedom to just wonder out into a vast wilderness. (Will also say pokemon on this front. Simple, grindy, for me, at least, comfortingly nostalgic, a nice safety blanket game that holds you hand just enough, but can also throw in a few surprises, very reward-driven, but soothingly cute (also also Zelda does this to me as well, 10/10 max cosy)) - I actually find that games that are reasonably intense are a great way to just take your mind off of things.
Back in Korea I dealt with a lot of stress at work, and went through two quite hard breakups in very short succession (a McBogus never learns) and found real solace in single player FPS titles like Deus Ex, Metro and the Half-Life series (also Metal Gear Rising Revengence, fantastically silly, but also tough enough at the right parts, none of that game didn't just feel satisfying to play). Countin' bullets, blastin' goons and leavin' no survivors is grimly pretty satisfying, and the way you can kind of take your time lurking around corners, before bursting into rooms full of foes and just brainlessly going ham with a machine gun, scrabbling for the next bit of cover and then rambo-ing it up again is, I guess, unsurprisingly cathartic. I have a few fond memories of getting home after an especially gakky Friday, buying a ton of nasty cheap korean beer, settling in with the greasiest gamer fodder (Korean fried chicken is the best in the world this is a hill I want to die on) and icing suckas until the wee hours with some of the unhealthiest comping mechanisms known to modern man.
Had a rough spot at the start of the year this year, too, and, shockingly, Dark Souls REALLY was an essential balm after work. Just boot it up for a few hours, and get punished. It's got such a distracting, life-swallowing level of inventory management, stats leveling, learning patterns of mob attacks, maps, spec-ing into build types, learning the movesets for weapons and finding out what works well against what that it really leaves very little space in your head to be tired or stressed about the outside world. For a few hours, you are an undead, walking around this hollow, twisted (and, once you hit a certain level of competence (listen, it takes a while to get there, but you just gotta get your head down and grind in those early levels, the reward is immensely worth it), hauntingly empty world. The rewards usually come slow, but when they do it's fantastic, and there's few better feelings than dropping into a boss battle, only to stomp the bastard in a few hits, and realizing how powerful you've become. I found an odd solace in being swallowed by that world, and just being able to decompress about all the bs I was dealing with, and instead just enjoy a visually beautiful, excellently crafted bit of digital artistry. Cannot recommend enough.

Much better idea than a friend of mine who (in the old days of WoW) used to get rid of stress by going 'noob hunting' by going to early level areas to gank and then corpse camp people..

World of Warcraft or an elder scrolls game is usually my go to when I'm tired. More recently No Man's Sky too.
Any game where you can largely explore and not really have to think or can do a task where you gather resources or something where brain power is at absolute zero.

Roguelites are great for shutting off your brain when tired. If just a bit tired, Sunless Sea gives you all sorts of slow paced Victorian weirdness. If you're even more tired, run Slay the Spire until you pass out.

Hard to argue with Skyrim.
You literally just wonder around endlessly & aimlessly, hacking at things that run up to you and try to kill you so you can take their gold.
Apparently its also got a story.
I actualy really like total war games for empire building.
Also, Desciples 2 or 3.
Turn based games are fun.
I guess some MMO where you just mindlessly farm the same mobs so you can get a fancy hat might do the trick.

I think the satire fantasy game Overlord was alright to relax with but i forget. It's like Evil Pikmin. If you want to be Sauron and have a gremlin army it's great silly fun.
Not as funny as it could've been but was still a bit silly.
