So I was browsing gaming videos on YT this morning and came across a 100% playthrough of CoC: Dark Corners of the Earth, a lovcraftian Horror FPS that would later spawn the "Amnesia" games. Anyway, it died a silent death the year it came out, unfortunately coming out the same year and month as some of the greatest FPS games of all time, FEAR and BF2. Also in that year, Fable, CoD2, Psychonauts, and Quake 4. It was made in a tough year. It was an amazing game, with a lot of innovative and novel ideas, settings nailed to a T, and great writing/voice acting.

Now I can't seem understand why the Steam Version is absolute crap, but the GoG version plays flawlessly. Does anyone know of any fan patches that clear up these issues? I don't want to have to buy the game AGAIN on GoG.

Does anyone else have any fond memories of this game?

I remember playing the game on Xbox, and being really impressed by it at the time. I think the hotel escape in Innsmouth section took me a million tries to accomplish lol. It was a frantic game, with great atmosphere.

Yeah I got stuck on the hotel escape bit and didn't get any further! Keep meaning to try again at some point...

When I last played the Steam version you couldn't actually see one of the main enemies during a sequence where you have to use combat so couldn't progress from that point. I don't think this was ever patched.

From memory the initial announcement for the game was meant to cover 4 different cases, have branching storylines and produce a novella detailing your characters specific adventures when you completed a case (or died). I was always disappointed that the game was cut back so much but I did enjoy it (I had it on the original xbox and the controller with it's very power vibration which pulse in time to your characters heart beat and when your character was very injured or terrified it would beat so hard and fast that it really heightened the experience).

One of the only games I played in 3D when I brought my PC 3D kit a few years ago, it looked amazing despite the very dated graphics.
