Ok so the image comes from an even called "Salute" that happens a long time ago, so it is impossible for me to ask someone about it...

If it was done for Salute, then it’s entir my likely that it was women cardboard sprayed with a gloss black spray and some lined scribed into the resulting finish.

Oh so it may be cardboard...interesting, I need to look into that too.
