now consider the following issue;

you have say 8 bowls in a line and each bowl contains the binary increment of the bowl on the left.

the bowl and value order is
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128

the total max value you can have is 255 (all 8 bowl); the min is 0 (none).

i purpose to you that you can get any number between the min 0 and max 255 by including and excluding some of these bowls in the set.

i.e. say you want 135; you will pick bowl 8 (128), bowl 1 2 and 3 ( 7) (total 128+7 = 135).

now muliply the content of the bowl by 100 (or 10, in previous editions),

and build your list to that points in the bowl,

you can now flexibly apply stillmaina up to 25500 points (or 2550 if you x 10).

any one want to give this a try? could be quite hard in 10th ed 40k, because every units are so expensive, and weapons seems to be included in the point regardless loadout.

If you are looking for a way to have one fixed collection you’d need to worry about the rule of 3. Have to be sure not to duplicate too much between buckets. It could also make some point levels very awkward.

Interesting math concept, but more practical would be just to build your army in set blocks that match game sizes better.
