As the title suggests, it's been a while since I played 40K. Dropped out around the launch of second, and have been easing my way back on to the tabletop with skirmish games.

I have the Dark Imperium, Indomitus and phobos-heavy start collecting box sets, as well as the Conquest magazine run. I can also leaven the primaris marines with first-born from the Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness starter + some HH / legends vehicles (Sicarian, Sicarian Venator, Vindicator - I went a bit click-happy in a FLGS clearance), and some random ebay purchases (Land Raider, Knights, Inquisitors)

I'm looking to play my first game of 10th, so I'm trying to put together a 2000pt list which could end up facing Eldar, Tau, Knights & Daemons.

I've done a few drafts and am thinking of trying this one first:

Plan is

Helllblasters + Librarian in Repulsor move forward to take up firing positions against something expensive
Aggressors + Captain move forward to take mid-field objective
Assault Intercessors + Chaplain smash into something asap
Grav Devs move to hit the best vehicle target
Las Devs hang back and snipe vehicles / monsters
Terminators deep strike somewhere depending on objectives
Whirlwind sits in the back lobbing rockets indirect, with spotting from the Land Speeder as long as that lasts
Intercessors cover back objectives, make them sticky and screen my side of the board


I'm being very indecisive over this - thinking Bladeguard or Dreadnought of some stripe instead of Aggressors, Infiltrators / Inceptors instead of Terminators, swapping vehicles for a Land Raider or Vindicator or Sicarian Venator if facing knights etc etc... - so any thoughts very welcome

Well congratulations on returning. I stopped playing with 5th Edition and have just come back with some friends getting 10th Edition. Cannot really help on your army list as I do not know the meta. I am just going to work out what I can build with my old models and go from there.
