A friend of mine is playing Necrons for the first time. He likes to use the resurrection orb with his unit of warriors. No matter how many times we try to explain how the orb works he refuses to understand what it says. The confusion comes in the wording of what it does. The text states "Resurrection Orb: While the bearer is leading a unit, that unit’s Reanimation Protocols activate at the end of your opponent’s Command phase in addition to at the end of yours." He believes that this means you get to use the orbs reanimation protocols along with the armies normal reanimation protocols giving him 3 protocols a round, 1 in his opponents command phase and 2 in his command phase. We have tried multiple times to say this isn't correct, but he refuses to believe us. Is there an official ruling on just how this piece of equipment works anywhere that we can point him at and let him read officially that he only gets 2 protocols a round, 1 during his opponents command phase and one during his command phase? Obviously this is just for that unit that is being lead by the Necron Lord with the orb.

I have no idea how your bud is getting that reading.

You normally get: Res in your Command Phase
Res Orb adds: Res in your opponent's Command Phase

It does not say "You gain an additional Resurrection in each Command Phase, not just your own," which is what it'd have to do to work as they think.
I don't think there's any official ruling saying it doesn't work how they think, because it's not an ambiguous rule.

I concur. There is unlike to ever be an FAQ answer to the clear wording of the rule. "that unit’s Reanimation Protocols activate at the end of your opponent’s Command phase in addition to at the end of yours" simply does not say what he is claiming.
