For those who are interested, here are some pics of my WIP Militia stuff. There is so much converting involved, it’s a slow process.

I trapped myself slightly by using GW's 'Sector Imperialis' bases for the troops. They aren't very well moulded, so they all needed to be improved. Then I had to create larger bases in the same style for the Sentinels and artillery. Even the Cargo-8 Hauler will need a base.

The basic troops are DK models with less uniform gear (mostly Cadian). The Grenadiers are more of a mixture of bits, although based on the DK models as well.

Strangely enough, it was one of the first units I chose. And the Orlock cyber-doggies seem to fit in well with everything else.

I have 2 beefs with the kits I’ve used for this army. The Cadian field artillery is cool, but those hand wheels are just annoying - they don’t sit properly and will likely get knocked off easily. The seat behind the gun breach is also stupid, so I removed it. My other peeve is the suspension on the Hauler, which is needlessly complicated and too fragile. Why not just provide a suspension that consists of a few robust components that can be easily assembled, and throw in a few cosmetic details to tart it up? I can’t believe there are many people who want to spend the time and effort that the suspension requires. It looks impressive, but is virtually invisible on the tabletop.

I did fix one thing that bothers a lot of people, although I think it’s a really good kit…

Good point. I have some Sisters of Silence built. I thought of maybe expanding them into something more substantial. There’s no way I’m doing hundreds of these guys!

Awesome project, the Hauler looks great. Like a mini Gorgon. If only they were dedicated transport, I've got a big game this weekend, first time I've done a proper list and there are many minor gripes I have with that PDF.
Looking forward to seeing more of this project!

I finished assembling the Beastmasters. The shotguns are from the Imperial Navy Breachers. The rest is a mixture of DK and Cadian bits. The Militia infantry will all have this look.
