With the holidays on the horizon, it will only be a matter of time until we get reveals for the yearly Christmas bundles and I thought it would be a fun game to try and guess what GW's going to offer us up this year. Here's how the game works:

There have been 6 sets for the last few years, so we'll say that it's going to be the same this year and everyone gets 6 guesses: You get 1 point for each faction you guess correctly, and 1 point for each unit in the box that is guessed correctly. To keep people from just guessing everything in a codex, the total MSRP of any box guessed can't exceed $375.00 USD (last year the most expensive MSRP box was $365.00 USD) With that, here are mine. (If the models aren't out yet, you can make a fair guess at the MSRP)

1. Space Marines are an obvious first choice and I think a lot of the new units will take the spotlight here, with a Deep Strike Themed force:
- 5 Terminators (Est MSRP $65.00)
- Terminator Chaplain (Est MSRP $40.00)
- 10 Assault Marines (Est MSRP $130)
- Smash Captain (Est MSRP $45.00)
- 5 Scouts (Est MSRP $60.00)
Total Est: ($340.00)

2. Tyranid Swarm: Again I think a bunch of the new Tyranid models will take the spotlight this Christmas. I think we'll get a bunch of little gribbles to push people to upgrade their swarms of older units, particularly gaunts.
- 20 Termagaunts ($90.00)
- 20 Hormagaunts. ($100.00)
- 10 Genestealers ($55.00)
- 5 Barbgaunts ($45.00)
- 1 Lictor ($50.00)
Total: ($340.00)

3. Gensetealer Cults Rapid Strike Force. We haven't seen a big box of these guys in a while and I think some of the range that hasn't seen discount kits will get the spotlight here. it also fits in with the Tyranid theme this edition:
- 1 Jackal Alphus ($45.00)
- 10 Atlan Jackels ($120.00)
- 2 Achillies Ridgerunners ($120.00)
- 1 Goliath Rockgrinder ($60.00)
Total: ($345.00)

4. Chaos Space Marines: With DG and 1K getting sets last year and WE not having any more models really beyond their box, I think it's between Generic Marines and Deamons and I think Marines are likely gunna be the go to this year. I'm thinking a Corrupted Cohort:
- 10 Possesed ($120.00)
- 3/5 Accursed Cultists ($55.00)
- 2 Obliterators / Venomcrawler ($75.00)
- Master of Possession ($35.00)
- 2 Chaos Spawn ($55.00)
Total: ($340.00) I think the good value on the Ob/Venom balances out the bad on the Spawn.

5. Aeldari: They haven't had a big discount set in a while either. I'm thinking they'll make another push on the new(ish) Aspect Warrior and Ranger Kits. Drukahri could be another option, but I'm going with these instead:
- 5 Howling Banshees ($60.00)
- 5 Dark Reapers ($60.00)
- 3 Shining Spears ($65.00)
- 3 Shroud Runners ($70.00)
- 5 Rangers ($60.00)
- 1 Autarch ($40.00)
Total ($355.00)

6. Astra Militarum: There's sure to be a second Imperial faction and these guys are fresh off a bunch of new kits with no Christmas box in the past 2 years. With the Rogal Dorn not doing super well in sales (at least if the internet is to be believed) I wouldn't be surprised to see it in this years discount kit. I debated a pair of Sentinels instead of the Rogal Dorn, but I'm gunna go with my gut.
- 20 Cadian Shock Troops ($100.00)
- 3 Heavy Weapons ($50.00)
- 1 Command Squad ($45.00)
- 5 Attilian Roughriders ($60.00)
- 1 Rogal Dorn ($100.00)
Total: ($355.00)

Those are my guesses. Do you think these are good options, or am I way off the mark? Lets see how many points you can all get! Best of luck everyone.

Umm...

Yeah, we kind of already have rumours for the contents. And a thread.

Eh, I thought OP’s idea was more of a light conversation game than a rumor thread. But that’s my two cents and I’m not a mod.

My tongue in cheek response is: “a release date for TOW”

These aren't rumors. They're not leaks I'm posting or someone told me they were going to be a thing. I figured it was better to separate this here so that people didn't take them as rumors and could just have fun making guesses and predictions.

It was just for some harmless fun, to see who could get the closest to guessing what's around the bend.

Not much of a game when we already have fairly accurate rumors as to the correct answer. Kind of doesn't make sense as "harmless fun" either - whats the point of guessing the contents of a GSC or Aeldari box, when we are reasonably certain that we aren't going to get either of those things?

How about guessing the AoS boxes then instead of being a dick about it.

Thats literally my point. Theres no point guessing, when we already know what they (probably) are. See the link HBMC shared previously.

I've read that post, nothing about the other boxes to be released.

...what? What other boxes? Are you new? Theres typically only 6 40k holiday boxes released each year. Thats all the boxes there likely will be.

Does Age of Sigmar not exist to you? They get holiday boxes as well.

We also already have solid rumors on AoS boxes, just nobody bothers to post them here because it's a smaller community. You're getting a Soulblight, Ossiarch, Slaves to Darkness, and Seraphon boxes. I saw rumored contents lists for at least 2 of them previously but can't recall where, I'll come back and post if I find them.

Specialist boxes could be any of the following (some of which might come before/after holidays as the release schedule has been screwed up and some of it was not intended for holiday release, similar to last year's space marine battleforces):

Tomb Kings and Bretonnian Army boxes (rumored content lists have been posted elsewhere on dakka, iirc bretonnian box was 12 Knights, ~40 men at arms, ~20 bowmen, and a new lord on Pegasus kit. Tomb Kings one includes new liche on bone/zombie dragon, bunch of skeletons, a unit of those sepilcharal snakemen guys, and iirc some chariots)

Knight Household and Titan Maniple for Legiones Imperialis

Mk3/Deredeo Horus Heresy Battleforce

Nevromunda Ash Wastes terrain bundle

Middle Earth Gondor terrain bundle

I guess I'm just not as up to date on all the current spoilers and leaks. I'd wanted to put this up about a month ago, but I got really busy moving and didn't get around to it. I'm sorry that my attempt at a good time bothered you. It seems like no one's really interested in playing anyway, so you might as well just bail on this thread all together then.

Thanks. Fairly unexciting. Looks like we're looping back around. Seraphon and StD were last in 2018 and Soulblight and Ossiarchs were in 2021.
