So, the new changes to the rules make Mortal Wounds unsaveable, but only applicable to 1 model. So if you do 3 Damage with your weapon, but are hitting a unit with 1-wound models, a MW hit only kills 1 of them, rather than 3.

But what about abilities?

I'm looking at the Hellflayer datasheet. I'll be using it for the first time ever on Saturday. It has an ability that, every time it's selected to fight, it can do anywhere from D3 to D3+3 MW to a unit. It even gives a bonus against Infantry units.

Would it kill D3+3 1-wound models in a unit? Or is this ability still counted as a single damage roll, so will only kill 1 model? (In which case, its bonus against Infantry is useless.)

I tried Googling, but the number of keywords involved made that a bust...

What say you?

My Hellflayer's actual attacks are best against Infantry, but should I also be double-charging a tank so its ability isn't wasted?

Help!

Thanks in advance.

They didn't change the way mortal wounds work. They changed the Devastating Wounds ability to NOT inflict mortal wounds.

Oh. So if something explicitly says Mortal Wounds, it's unchanged?

Correct.

Devastating Wounds changed. MW did not change.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"
