say a character joins a unit of knights with a rule like countercharge that the character does not have, can the unit still countercharge?

same question with other special rules centred around the unit, fire and flee, Feigned Flight

which are essentially charge reactions.

Go look at the counter charge rule in the rulebook, you will find your answer.

The other 2, you'd have to email GW's FAQ department and see if they will address feigned and fire/flee on the next update...Do you have an example of what you're talking about?

well basically high elf shadow warriors can be upgraded to Feigned Flight but can only be joined by a character with Shadow Stalker, but shadow stalker doesn't give Feigned Flight

so I am like how does that work lol

Given that some rules (such as the aforementioned Counter-Charge) specify that each model must have the rule to use it, we can infer that characters that join the unit benefit from the unit's special rules.

No you can not if the character doesnt have counter charge the unit can not counter charge.

chaos mounts dont have counter charge so you cant put a character on a mount in a unit of chosen chaos knights or the knights will not be able to counter charge.

If you want a character with your shadow warriors you cant use the Feigned Flight.
So if you know you want the character in the unit you dont buy the upgrade.

Boars, for example, come with the Counter-charge Rule, as a mount, so clearly GW intended Orc characters riding boars to allow a unit of Boar Riders they joined to Counter-charge.

However, is it the case that GW put the rule in every mount that they intended, or did they forget some? Not sure how to know that, but it isn't a simple oversight across the board. At least some character mounts do have the rule attached.
