Finished two more Armigers this morning. It only marks the half-way point of the Knight collection in total, but it does complete the initial Lance that I started out with.
I've added a big pile of Conquest stuff though. City States very much want to field two big Hoplite bricks, and now I can do that. Might regret it when there are more options. Might not.

Early last week I painted up a shark for a D&D game.
The vast hoard of unpainted stuff shrunk!
Then came Friday. My Cities of Sigmar box arrived & I added 28 more minis to the ranks of the unpainted.
I don't think this 1/30ish ratio will work....

In the past 12 weeks, I've finished painting 200+ figures, all for 25mm-28mm fantasy gaming. I'm down to <100 figures in my unpainted pile. Actually, I believe it is <50. I have 1,000+ in the finished, ready for the tabletop category.
I am a dyed-in-the-wool, Dip'er, brushing it on, to save time and effort. I love fielding multiple fantasy armies for my friends to play with. My last big game was more than a year ago. I fielded around 800 figures from my collection, and a friend put out around 200 of his figures for the game. It was played out on two tables, total length of around 17 feet; the width was 5.5 feet for the primary table, while the extension table was only 4 feet wide. I ref'd, as we had a full 10 players, pushing miniatures across the tables. It was GLORIOUS fun!
The rules were 2e BattleSystem, OOP since 1994? The scenario was pulled from my 2e AD&D RPG game sessions. Only three of the players were from my RPG games, the other seven were just looking to play a fantasy mass battles game, with oodles of miniatures and terrain. Everyone asked to be invited back to the next game. It was fun...
I began painting using simple block techniques. I followed that up with a black paint wash, which I sealed with a matte clear coat. Then I learned of The Dip Technique. I tried it, and I've been using it ever since, back in 1996.
I recently watched a video from Wyloch's Armory, on YouTube, where he demonstrated Speed Paints 2.0. His results were impressive. I wrote asking him if he could compare SP 2.0 results with The Dip Technique. I shared with him that I used assembly line painting techniques for block painting, followed by The Dip Technique (I use Magic Wash, as well, but far less often), averaging 10 minutes of brush time, per figure. If he has done The Dip Technique, how does it compare? I told him that if he is not familiar with The Dip Technique, it is not worth his time to respond...
Wyloch told me he was a HUGE Dip'er! Until he tried the SP 2.0: He reduced his average brush time, per figure, from 15 minutes, to 2 minutes! He said the results were incredibly better than The Dip Technique!
If I were just starting out... I would use SP 2.0, ignoring The Dip Technique, and Magic Wash, altogether. Problem is, I already have around 1,200 figures painted with The Dip Technique, and Magic Wash, and any figures painted with SP 2.0, would put them to shame, if on the tabletop, side by side. I will finish my figures with The Dip Technique, even though it will take five times longer to finish each figure. At least they will all look consistently painted, across the tabletop.
SP 2.0 requires white primer. Then brush on your colors, and let the SP do the work for you. He gushed about how good they are, how fast they are, how simple they are, to use to achieve superior results that really blow away Dip'd figures. He had no reason to lie: he was not paid to promote the SP 2.0 paints; he is like me, he had no desire to improve his painting skills one iota; he had Dip'd hundreds of figures, previously, and the SP 2.0 product was so much better, in every way.
Playing fantasy, I expect my armies to be grungy, looking like they've been in a fight, in the dirt and mud -- they're in the battlefield, fighting, not prancing across a parade ground to impress the opposite genders! The Dip Technique gives the results I expect.
I view my figures, 98% of the time, at arm's length, or farther. I paint for the 98%, not the 2%. On my table, they look impressive, they're fun and enjoyed by all players who push them across the tabletop. I consider them to be winners.
If you want to make your Pile of Shame disappear, quickly, and easily, I heartily recommend Speed Paints 2.0. Otherwise, simple block painting, assembly line style, followed by The Dip Technique, and a matte clear coat, is the way to push them out to your tabletop, ready for battle. Minwax Tudor (black) is the most recommended color, but I prefer Royal Walnut (dark brown), if I can find it. Cheers!

So three more stands of Hoplites done, and a new difficult deadline incoming with the next release wave.
Three more Hoplites to go, and three Minotaurs and three stands of Thorakites. Not impossible, but certainly a stretch.

Finished a Knight Tyrant, bought up the last release wave of City States for the year; an Eidolon, six Inquisitors, and 12 stands of Satyrs. There's a non-zero chance that I get all the CS done before January 1. Anything past that is a question mark.

This week I finished some nids I bought on a whim (only two to go now), and decided to clear the remaining half of my Archon's Kazumi Temple for good.
Then I immediately planned what I'm going to buy lest the pile of shame looks less full.

Last of my Ork infantry complete and the Malifaux Hex Bows for good measure.
Going to quickly paint up some Legion Death Troopers just to drive down the pile a bit and then get my Mk4 Khador ready now that Warmachine has some renewed hype coming down the pipe.
After that? Back to Orks. Got to paint up the vehicles and mounted stuff next. Should have them done in time for the errata to make my list illegal. :-D
