I just got back from GD Chicago where I played in the Chicago GT.  I have been playing in the GTs for over 3 years now and have noticed the terrain is still the same.

This year I played over half my games on Lava tables, 3/5, and the rest on sparse rock tables.  Anyone familiar with the GT terrain will know what I mean, but simply the lava boards are lased with lava flows that are difficult for infantry and filled with rocks that count as forests basically.  Theyre pretty thick.  The rock tables however are fairly flat with 1 or 2 hills and 2 or 3 woods, with no blocking lava flows at all.

While I had a great time, like I always do at GTs, I suggest that GW ought to make some new boards, maybe not ALL NEW boards, but at least replace 30% of the old boards with new ones each game season.

Anyone else who went to GT Chicago (or has played in GTs) have a similar opinion?  What should the new boards be? (I say Tau buildings and woods, or more practically, they ought to do City of death buildings, now that they have the kits available wouldn't you think?)

Florida

But Augustus that would mean they would have to put in effort into the GTs and this past GT,
there wasnt any real effort at all. '

I got the lava tables for 3 outta the 5 games but it thankfully did prevent some turbo boosting bikes so I cant complain and my wyches love to fleet over lava.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

No real effort? That's not really fair, and that's not what I'm saying at all.  I saw a lot of judges and Jeff Hall too, all doing their best to provide a good event as far as I could see!

I like all the boards they have, but it does get redundant after 3 years.  I just think it would be really great if they could get some new terrain each year.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Since they only have one GT a year, I doubt that they will invest the money needed to update their tables.

I saw some picturs from the german GT in the White Dwarf and I was very dissapointed. Rocks and Forests all over the place. this terrain has no Soul, where's the spirit in that.

maybe I should add that I build Terrain for the local store for a year or two now. I really have fun building stuff, be it ruins, or cityfight builidings, Demon World stuff, whatever. and then I walk around at our torunament and ask the people waht kind of terrain they would like to see more often...
and they say: Hills and forests....

...I hate tournament players....

The GW store near me changes boards every 6 months or so. Complete with all-new terrain features too. Ice-forests, glaciers, medieval forests/ruins, industrial pipe-world, whatever. Every six months it seems. It's weird they don't do that with GTs.
