Dude I feel you 100% on that. I started making a marine operated turret for my razorback just as a filler until I got the bits. Then I put some time into him, did a little green stuff work and now he is my dedicated razorback turret instead of just a stop gap.
I love this type of hobby sometimes.

Staring at my models. I know I need to build and assemble more but...so tired.
So very tired.
Spent all day scraping carpet-backing off of the floors of my new home, and so my hobby activities consist of me trying to pep talk myself into DOING some hobby activities.

I've finally managed to get some pics uploaded on here that are somewhat decent, see my gallery and the P&M section for Chaos, Ultras, IF and more. Here's the Alpha Legion marine I mentioned the other day: and a Helbrute I did ages ago:

This evening I'm going to work on getting some of my Deadzone terrain painted. I've been using it alot lately for Necromunda / 40k and need to just bite the bullet and get it painted.
Not to mention I ordered the landing pad today... so I really need to get painting.

Built a squad of Dire Avengers and converted and painted a Farseer for my brother...
First Chaos, now Xenos. Help, brothers, my faith in the Emperor is sorely tested. Today, I even uttered those most heretical of words; "wouldn't a Dark Eldar army be kind of cool?"

I've started doing some more Star Trek: Attack Wing repaints.
I've shown everyone my USS Enterprise-D already but this is the basic pre-painted scheme of the other ships.
In a word... Eww. So, I'm re-painting them with the reasoning. "Well, I can't make them any worse..."
Step 1: Something nice and easy, a GW Nuln Oil wash over all the other ships.
Even that seems like a major improvement to me. The trick though, is tidying up any of the wash that pools on a flat section. - I missed a bit on Voyager and it is really very telling on whats supposed to be a symmetrical ship.

Nice work on the ships. I find the original paintschemes on those and the X-wing models really are lacklustre, so good job fixing that
@ GD: Neat idea, and not one I've seen before. If I did do a DE army, I'd stick to the Kabalite and Wych elements, probably with lots of transports, the Haemonculus side of it never really appealed to me. My brother starting Eldar would just about give me an excuse if I hadn't already lined up my next lot of income for starting Malifaux...

I've had dark eldar since 2000... maybe even before that a tad. I have a bunch of raiders but no new (usually superior) venoms... I've got 60 something warriors cause I had no clue what I should buy when I started, some wyches, and a few other things.
The zombie/mutant element would help me update the force by splicing with warriors with them. But its a bad idea that I should avoid. But I loooove the deldars... its basically them or space marines. There is no place in my heart for 2 40k armies. Plus starting another army from ground means not having a painted army and or playing for a longer period... still...

I'll be trying to start putting paint on some primed this weekend Heavy Gear models. They're the last ones I actually plan to work on this year in all likelihood (got a dozen more in various states but no plans to do anything with them till I actually get a local opponent). Barring that, there is always the option of actually starting to repaint (after restripping and repriming) my Deathwatch marines again.

Tonigth I got started on the contiuned attempt at making an Mandalorian inspiried army for 40k, but lord knows that it is a massive time sink, particulary when you dont know yet how to make those jetpacks of theirs, but I am attempted at skipping that, and just get the armour, weapons and general feel of the army done first.

That does sounds awesome. Will you be presenting pictures of said epic undertaking? Automatically Appended Next Post: Cannibalised some of my old High Elves to make an Autarch for my brother's Eldar. Damn, I'm really getting this Xenos bug, and I'm itching to get it painted.

Well if I get a result I am pleased with I may do that, but the problem so far has been finding sculptures/ minis that works well. I did at one point consider using regular Vanila SM, but I have moved away from that, So I may pick up an pack of Scions to see how they scale up

Needless to say, I'm going to be repainting the saucer section.
In my defence, I'm pretty sure the saucer is smaller than a space marines leg...

And the Autarch is painted, 'twas great fun. I'm also noticing that all my best-painted models seem to end up on permanent shelf duty or in other people's armies. Why can't I put as much effort into my own models that I actually use? I'm now debating whether I should be buying my first Malifaux crew or a random squad of Eldar. I have no codex for them, hardly get to play 40k at the moment, and they wouldn't help with any of my armies, but I'm really enjoying the change of pace from Space Marines. Then again, Malifaux has skeletons in cowboy hats...

Hrmm not sure what to tell you there. My brain just can't resolve steam punk so stuff like malifaux just goes over my head, and I'm not sure I'll ever want to paint a space marine again... for me it is the impossible question.
Ooh wait I notice now you say malifaux crew or eldar as a break to the marines... I must go with random eldar. They're still allies to marines in one fashion or another, right? Something something unbound if necessary?
Just do yourself and get a cool looking unit that'll be fun to paint, I wouldnt start with troops until you resolve to make the army in earnest.
Loki--do let us know, love infinity minis.
Want to work on my Moran, though I'm running out of time for a couple of other projects..

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |
