Assembled two Pistol Wraiths and painted two Deathrippers.

Got a read through part of the new Necron codex.
Looks decent. Some nerfs like mss and Trans. C'Tan.
But overall decent buffs like Wraiths, Flayed Ones, Tomb Blades and Destroyers.
Overall the best codex since Tau and Eldar.

Compared with the new Necron codex, the codices of SW and BA look home made. Not very ingenuine.

So yesterday, in our escalation campaign, all we did was HQ Battles in a special event. No named characters were allowed, and if you were under 150 points you could roll on the campaign chart for upgrades. (We were limited to 150 point HQs.) I ran around with a 'nid prime rocking boneswords, a deathspitter, and fleshooks. (That capped me out at 150 points, so I didn't get to roll on the table.) Man, did I murk things. I earned basically all the points I needed and then some for creating wounds on other people's HQ's and the other random mobs on the board, challenges. So the last thing to show up on the board as the "random mobs" were greater demons..and the great unclean one killed me on the "cap point" at the end, saving a xenos inquistor to get the points for winning the game.

A few other people got points for surviving until the game ended, but most people died.

Today, I'll write my fluff for my campaign, score my points, and I might paint later. It's snowing like mad here, so I'm not going anywhere today.

We'll see if I can get anything else done besides that though..

I pray that this is the case for me, too. Scheduled to work, but I imagine the store is dead and we're way ahead of schedule on builds. If I can weasel my way out of going in, I'm going to throw some primer on those 'dug in' markers to see how they're shaping up (hard to really see the shape, sometimes, when everything is a different color and none are what they should be) and continue my experiment with 15mm walls. "What's this about 15mm walls," you say? "You never mentioned those." I did not, because I just started mucking around with them. Trying to clear the workbench = starting new projects... because reasons. Perhaps Hobby ADD is as much to blame for my slow progress as lethargy...

Well, time to call in and see whether I should load up the airbrush or start digging out my car. Send me your good-hobby-vibes, Dakka. I really don't want to work, today, but I do want to 'work.'

Pics?

And is there any chance you could give me a scale shot of the KM stuff next to some 28mm Humans? I know they are slightly larger than most minis, but if I can use generic 28mm goons I might just be able to afford to get into the game.

Managed to find a 3D Modeling solution to my chainmail sculpting problem (I have been unable to sculpt chainmail so far, due to not having enough RAM in my computer).

So... I managed to find a way to model a solution that can then be turned into a stamp for Mudbox (geez how I wish that I had ZBrush!).

There is only a small technical hurdle to overcome now, in that I would prefer to have my UVs completed for the 3D base-mesh on which I will be sculpting the chainmail (which would allow me to just flood-fill the shell in question, saving hours of sculpting time, and getting a MASSIVELY better sculpt).

But I can now finish out the Command Figures, and the 3 Warriors wearing Chainmail.

Huh graphic design is one of those things I only saw a teeny bit of in one of my CS courses back in the day, always seemed cool, and now especially with 3D printers being a thing.

Gonna prime some more Infinity figures and maybe play with a little deadzone terrain!

For a change of pace, I've been assembling a unit of mantic Panther Lancers.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what to make of them. I'm not gonna call them good, but in my opinion, they're not the greatest travesty of miniatures design since Nagash Mk1 that people make them out to be.

However, I can imagine that someone who bought an army of several hundred basileans might be rather irate. - It's probably going to take me 2 full evenings all told to assemble and tidy up 10 of them. And that's without the minor greenstuffing I'll need to do.

I kind of feel the same way about Men at Arms. I've got about 15, I think, and I'm pretty sure I could put those together and like them alright. They'll go alright with some random reaper humans I'm gonna end up with But if I had a bunch of those and also had some of the metal Paladins that are more elite but noticeably smaller... it would be an issue.

I want to paint my Imperial Guard and Imperial Fists, but I NEED to get my piles of unbuilt models assembled. My Riptide I got for Christmas is still NIB. I also have piles of other Tau that have been nothing but legs on stands for the past three years (I'm a terrible person...).

So no computer games for me until I get at least two squads and some random FW stuff built. I also need to continue investing in some foam for all my armies.

You will be blogging the monstrous task, I hope?

If you're stuck with assembly at all, there are a fair few threads over on the One Ring forums that you might find handy.

I saw one completely built yesterday over at GW army painters group on facebook yesterday (not painted) Are you planning on playing with yours or is it display only?

Slightly unrelated, since my fiance proposed to me over an apoc game, we've vaguely discussed about which minis to use as wedding cake toppers.. when smaug came out I joked and said I wanted one for the topper. He said no.

It would probably smash the cake, or need a lot of serious support

Just about to call it a day on my first 2 Morannon Orc commanders. As they are for a competition on another forum, I've spent about double my usual time on them already, but I think I'm now a at the point of diminishing returns; I could keep highlighting, but the effect would be largely unnoticable and also run the risk of them not fitting in with my regular block'n'wash Orc troops. I'll see in the morningi in better light, but right now I reckon they're as done as they'll ever be.

So it's on to number 3 now. Basecoat down, I'll slap on the first wash in a moment and then I'm done for the day. Lack of primer is still driving me mad, though, especially as I've had a cool idea for my remaining Rohan models and now can't actually do it.

Heh.. that story has me making up all kinds of silly scenarios.

Baby, I love you. Marry me?

NO! Now eat battlecannon, swine!

I've noticed something similar Para. I can spend a little longer on some models, but past a point I could have just painted more models instead. Infinity minis have the extra detail and definition to warrant extra work but I'm more likely to butcher them trying new things than not.. so I don't

I'm digging through a large box I received today from a trade, quite excited!

It was the store apoc event, and to balance out points, we got put on opposite teams. He was trying to give me the pie plate and i refused, since it was on my army. ("No, you're going to blow up my army, you put the pie plate down" was the thinking my head..) Then I noticed it had something taped to it. So I capitulated, and it had a romantic 40k picture with some text, and then he got down on knee and proposed to me with a doctor who tardis ring box. I said yes...and then he blew my army off the table. (This was back in 6th ed, so D weapons were absolutely horrible).

He still hasn't been forgiven for blowing up my army when he proposed..and he didn't ask me to be his companion through time when he proposed with the box and the ring. So I occasionally give him crap for that.
