Is doing drugs hobby related (Hey! They're prescription. Never mind that they are Morphine and Adderall)?

I seem to get more painting work done when I am on drugs.

Of course the fact that I cannot even stand up without the Morphine might have something to do with it (I literally can't do anything unless I am "on drugs").

But I thought maybe if I did twice as many, I would get twice as much done.

Worth a shot???

I have plenty of Goblins/Orcs and Rohirrim to be painted.

In fact, now that I have finished about five units of the Orcs/Goblins, I think I need to do some Rohirrim (I only have seven units of Rohirrim to do at the moment).

GOD! I hate building those horses though.

In the grimdark, even a small child with slightly progressive ideas can level whole planetary systems. I'm sure your car doesn't feel like it's being marginalized by being classified as such.

So I purchased a Gobbin Tinker for Warmachine yesterday.

I get it home and the Cart is missing the Axel and one wheel. Lovely. Modding I go! I flipped the arms around so the handles look like wrenches, and made the cart into a spare parts box. I'll do some more modding after the tournament today.

So yeah, I'm going to a WM 35pt tourney today. should be fun!

Going to head up to the shop and pick up a white dwarf at least. I'd pre-order the new board game, but I don't get paid again until next week so bleh. I'll have to wait and see how many the shop gets, I suppose.

I'll try and get some more painting done for para's contest (I need to get a couple of WIP pictures up) and get some more modeling work up.

My time lately's been going into making an office building to go along with the urban scenery that I have for the Fallout setting. Last night I was able to finish off the basic layout for the top floor, with now only the roof left to do before I can go back and start filling the gaps and bulking things out a bit more.

Tonight I think I'll turn my attention to making more modular pavement sections. What I have now just isn't substantial enough to do for a proper board (luckily I haven't much of the inner city stuff finished to actually warrant having enough for an entirely urbanized table yet). ...Though as I type this I'm remembering that I'm out of bloody plasticard.

...It looks cheap and dingy now, but once its finished it'll only look dingy.

......Ok and a bit cheap too. Cheaper actually!

Mostly scouring Dakka/BoW for Salute info/pics and wishing I could have got there myself! One day...

Got another Word Bearer painted, just two more of the actual CSM to do now, then a few Cultists/extras. Tomorrow afternoon will be wiped out by Age of Ultron, but I'll be grabbing some more primer at the same time, so should be able to crack on and get the warband done in the evening.

Then it's on to the good guys...

Cheers for the pics, it looks great!

It was basically a case of lack of transport, lack of funds, and the fact I only found out about it a few weeks ago so couldn't arrange either! Still in definitely going to try and get there at least once in the next few years.

I played in my first X-Wing tournament. My Squadron performed perfectly well.

The Squadron Commander, on the other hand, deserves to be fired. Seriously, that guy is a dumbass.

Spoiler:
I got last place...

Last night, I had a game of Deadzone: Contagion. I really need to get some pics up for that one.

Building a foamcore bunker using an edited version of the bunker from the back of the 5th edition rule book. It's looking pretty good after a lot of practice at cutting foamcore it's not easy. Managed to mess up my parapet on the first cut but ah well the core of the bunker is fine so cut some more parapet later.

Doing a bit of everything today, if possible. Gonna try to put some time in on my battlezone dropship so I don't run out of steam completely. I've got to finish my entry for Paradigm's monthly painting challenge, and I'd like to continue packing unused models away in anticipation of a future move (and because they're doing me no good sprawled out on a table).

Recovering from Salute. Until 2am this morning I hadn't slept since 5pm Thursday.

Now I'm digging out a trove of old still-packaged figures I never did anything with. Hoping to get rid and make space. Found an embarrassing amount of original Malifaux.

Also getting my Judge Minty underway.

Looking at Tau ire Warriors still on the Sprue and wondering if I should try to track down a sniper and drone combo.

And dreaming about eventually painting these.

I don't want to paint anything that I want to look "above average" until I get the whole paints situation sorted out, and get my head wrapped around the various paints available.

OH!

And I am reading reviews about different paint lines so that I can decide if I want to stick with Vallejo, or if I want to just go to Artist's Colors in tubes.... Decisions. . . Decisions. . .

And... I think that, due to aging eyesight, that I need to drop many of my brush sized by an "ought." Or an order of magnitude of some sort.

I used to be able to paint a 25mm miniature's eyes with an 00 brush.

I discovered last night that in all but a few cases, I need at least a 10/0 (which is an embarrassment - but aging happens, I suppose).

So... I think buying some new detailing brushes to go with any new paint is a must as well.

And I noticed that GW has a new board game with some interesting looking figures (I may wait for a few of the individual figures to show up on eBay).

Do you use magnification when painting fiddly details, BeAfraid? Seems to me that hand tremors are the only reason you'd need to change brush size - deteriorating eyesight should only change how you best view the parts, not how you paint them. A visor-style jeweler's loupe or a swing-arm magnifier (plenty of options are lighted) might be in order, if you aren't already using something similar.

Personally, I find working under magnification disorienting, but my eyes are still plenty good, even if they aren't still the best they'll ever be. Plenty of aging (depending on genes, that can mean anything from early 30s to late 50s) painters swear by them, though, and I'm sure I'll need to grow accustomed, some day.

I finally did my Battle Report / review of Deadzone Contagion.

It's a good fun, wee expansion pack and it can very easily be played cooperatively, as opposed to just solo.

Plus, zombies. Everyone loves zombies.
