Looks good, though, I *would* like to see eyes... I understand your hesitance however, as some models can give you a big headache and never look quite right.

Sculking at home with ear ache, drugged to the eyeballs..

Plan is of course to ignore this and get some more models painted, had a building day on Sunday so have a load of 28mm French dragoons to prime and start, plus some 40 odd 1:600 scale aircraft of various sorts.

See how far I get

Priming old Ral Partha monsters that I managed to get on eBay to paint replacements for pieces I lost from the wife.

Specifically a Hecatron and a Grendel (with the big spikes in his back).

I would like to see if I can do a better job on Grendel than on the model I recovered from my old collection (since he was an early addition, and was not done very well from the beginning).

I've almost finished painting my All Quiet humans, and finally assembled the tripods.

I'm also working on a Kingdoms of Men army for KoW using GW Empire minis. I'm using multi-basing to get more out of the minis (so 7-8 on a troop base instead of 10), but it still works. I've also did a test model on an Outrider to see if they could take melee weapons, and it worked! So now I have an option for mounted sergeants.

Being amazed at nearly having my 160 Thunderbolt Mountain Goblins finished, leaving me with 249 Ral Partha Lesser-Goblins to finish for this army.

And then it will be on to finishing up the Rohirrim, Gondorians, and Haradrim.

And I have GOT to find a way to reproduce the "Easterlings'" poleaxes. I need to replace the Easterling Cataphracts' swords with Lances/Poleaxes.

Lots of post this morning! Angel Giraldez book, Joan of Arc and Puppetswar bugs!

A fun day of painting ahead! I think I'll try and copy the masterclass for Joan as close as I can, just to see how that goes.

Sorting through a pile of metal 2nd ed marines. Seeing what needs to be stripped and cleaned up.

Then I'll look at a batch of old fantasy stuff. Prepping for some light games of AoS. (In more hope than expectation, I dont think I have enough of anything to matter).

This evening I'll be looking at tutes and instructions for making some scenery. Low level Sci-fi and Space port type stuff.

In between all this ill be sculping with apoxie and Sculpey.

Productive night! Even got a few crits in!

Got the Puppetswar stuff built, and it's very nice indeed, but Joan was first to hit the paint desk and is now done, sans basing.

All I have to say is that, holy crap, even by Infinity standards that was one stunning model to paint! Perfect pose, perfect details, a great mix of textures and chances for different techniques, just epic! Can't recall the last time I enjoyed painting a mini so much!

Light pending, should have some pics tonight.

Just hosted a D&D 5e game as the DM for the first time. In fact I've only played one game as a player ever, and then the original guy running the game at my club decided hes too busy and asked me to take over (he runs a gaming store). Talk about jumping in at the deep end.

I've almost lost my voice, and that was just with two players in a quiet room. We spent more time referencing rulebooks than actually playing. Still, it was a lot of fun. We played the first combat encounter of the Lost Mines of Phandelver starter set adventure.

Four incompetent Goblins attempted to ambush a trio of adventurers (A Dragonborn fighter, a Dwarf Cleric and a Human Ranger) hired by a dwarf merchant to transport his goods to another town. One goblin got a lucky shot on the Cleric causing severe damage, which the Cleric promptly healed with a spell. The Ranger returned fire, hitting one of the Goblins in the cheek . Two Goblins brandishing shields and scimitars attempted to leap over a wall to attack the Dragonborn...and both tripped over the wall falling flat on their faces. One broke his jaw.

The Dragonborn walked over to the two prone Goblins...and barbequed them both with his "Breath Weapon" (Dragonborn have a natural ability to breath fire or acid etc depending on their ancestry. Like a Flamethrower on steroids ). One Goblin was killed outright, and the other left a quivering, smoking mess (1hp). He later succumbed to his burns. The two Goblin archers attempted to shoot the Dragonborn...but somehow ended up snapping their bow strings. One bow went flying out of its owners hand and twatted the other Goblin in the face.

The two Goblins completely forgot the adventurers and began fighting amongst themselves. One of them picked up a handaxe off the ground (which the Cleric had thrown at him earlier but missed) and attempted to throw it at the face of his, er..."friend" standing five feet away...But dropped it on his own foot, chopping off a toe. The Ranger then dropped the other Goblin with an arrow to the temple.

The surviving Goblin - left hobbling on one foot with an axe embedded into it - was intimidated into surrendering by the Dragonborn (a bit unnecessary I think - He couldn't exactly run away). The adventurers interrogated him and learned about the Goblin lair nearby. As an afterthought, the Dwarf Cleric politely asked for his axe back. Then chopped off the Goblin's head.

Running a D&D game will be good for my hobby, because it will actually motivate me to get my Lord of the Rings miniatures painted up. We're using an Aragorn as a human Ranger, Arwen as a Tiefling Druid, Boromir as the Dragonborn Fighter, and Pippin as the Dwarf Cleric. Still

For some reason, I HATE painting termies. They are kind of a pain to paint, I'm not exactly sure why.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 13 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

Used some gift card type funds to pick up a few more shasvastii for my slowly growing force. I have a bad feeling that it's going to mutate into a large overblown 'all the things' combined army force eventually. That's ok though, as long as I maintain my tradition of keeping all of the shasvastii painted. So far I'm 9/9 though I've got 4 more coming in.

Fielded my entier collection of models for a massive game of Pike & shot, it was my Swedes against the Russians. I think in total there where many hundreds of miniatures on the table.
The battle was fougth in a wintery landscape and it was an objective based one.
I needed to prevent the Russians from seizing control over a important town and also bog them down in the figth for the fields surronding the town.
In the end it ended as a bloody draw as both sides had expended too much manpower and effort in trying to dislodge each other. Also the very bloody cavalry battle that had raged for several turns claimed the lives of the commanders on both sides, witch was something we had not experienced before.
