lo all, i played warhammer 40k when i was younger (well rarely played, just collected and painted models really). Now at the age of 23 i need a hobby and it has sucked me back in.. thing is i want as many back storys and fluff as possible, is there a good source for this on the web anywhere or are all the storys you are refering to only available in the pricey codex's and other gw books? thx

I'd say that the best source of fluff would certainly be the 40k Fluff Bible, but I don't know where to get it anymore

I picked up the fluff bible on the old Dakka and I tried to read through it. Its something like 250 pages of adobe reader. Lots of grammar and spelling mistakes and could really wreck your eyes if you're not careful. Other than that it has good stuff about the early history of the Imperium. Unfortunately it only has the bigger races so no Necrons, Tau or the like.

wikipedia is a good place to start, it's surprisingly strong on 40k stuff.

"Suffering is Faith, Faith is Strength.
Generations have suffered with the same devotion that we can offer but once. Still, our Faith leads us through these dark times like a beacon. It will guide us to triumph over these abominations. Either by breaking them upon us like waves against a limitless, golden peak or by thrusting through them like the spear of the Immortal Emperor Himself." - Cannoness Aoife, Order of the desert rose #Yesallwomen
