Just a little excited, as I've finally been accepted to Pharmacy School. Maybe someone was curious about what I did.

Carry on.

Congrats on pharmacy school. It's a few years of hard work, but you'll be making some pretty sweet money in no time.

Where are you going?

You don't think people in higher education are social misfits?

Woot! Selling your soul to Big Pharma = WIN.

Becoming Big Pharma = EPIC WIN. Or, at least, epic cash.

I'm with Malfred on this one... I'll probably be running a city here soon (blessed MPA) or climbing higher for a Ph.D. and I'm definitely a social misfit. You'll just be the guy behind the counter telling them not to mix drug A with drug B because it makes certain appendages turn black & fall off--that'll win you dates

All-in-All, congrats! My sister's going through RX school in Michigan. Out of curiosity, which school accepted you?

University of Louisiana Monroe. Basically a mid-level state school, but the Pharmacy program is ludicrously selective. I made the 91st percentile on the PCAT entrance exam and they still wait-listed me, then accepted later.
Basically it was either that or Xavier in New Orleans. I already have several relatives who've gone through here so I decided I may as well give it a try.

Thanks guys

My mother finished her RX Doctorate at Xavier(Ole Miss for the rest of her RX school, several years before). If you get the chance, try to get a job at an Insurance Company after/if you go for your Doctorate, they make a nice salary(at least at Blue Cross/Blue Shield).

Honestly, I wish I had applied at Xavier. I'm a big jazz nut trombone player and I've met or played with many, many professionals from New Orleans. The big problem I've had with Monroe is that there is no culture here at all, while my friends at Loyola and UNO are around all that stuff all the time. Once in a while I get the chance to come back down and go out on the town with them, and I always have a great time. Stuff I've always wanted my college career to have, but there is simply no access to it here. They are around it all the time, and I'm SEVERELY jealous.

Good to see you enjoy NOLA, I was ecstatic to leave it(except for leaving the FLGS). I'm so glad to be finally leaving LA completely this summer.

Well, it helps that I grew up 30 minutes away, right next to the Ponchartrain Bridge.

Yeah, I haven't met many people who grew up outside the city who doesn't like it. Unfortunately, I grew up IN the city(Uptown, 2 blocks from St. Charles).

Ouch. I know what you mean, my mom grew up in Metairie;she has a fit every time I go. Uptown can get pretty bad in some places. Mark Mullins, the lead trombone player from Bonerama (awesome), which works out of N.O., doesn't live there either. He lives across town from me. One of my friends was getting lessons from him for a while.

Wow... I'll have to ask my sis what the bar is where she's tryin to go (I think she's transferring to the Twin Cities since Michigan got too expensive). Well, nice to know that they're not letting any ole' person in to learn how to dole out our medz.

Out of curiosity, have you talked to any older pharmacists and mentioned that you're gonna get your RX doctorate? I hear it horks them off pretty bad to have young whipper-snappers called "doctors"

Has to happen sooner or later. I always chuckle about the way the bureaucracy is described in 40k.
