Alright, I started this years ago and am finally getting around to it again. This is my tribe of Ogres. After the comet hit, most of the tribe was abroad as travellers. The comet obviously took out thier village as it did many other villages. This tribe, upon their return, searched out for any survivors of their village, going deep into the maw. The farther they went the more the warmth increased until they entered a cavern of flowing lava and rock. There were many strange creatures down here scurrying about, large and small, most the Ogres had never seen before. They decided this would be their new home and a lot of their food source came from these new, meaty creatures that had been results of the mutations down in the cavern unbeknownst to the ogres. Little did the Ogres know what the proximity was to a large chunk of the comet that was embedded in the walls of their caverns. This chunk started to slowly mutate the Ogres until they grew strange horns and developed a reddish hue to their skin. Once the Ogres realized what had been happening to them, and even their Giants that they enslaved, they were unsure of their next course of action. One night, they came to the surface on a hunting expedition. It was close to nightfall and they happened upon a small human village. The humans they inadvertantly came in contact with immediately became enraged with fear at seeing a sight such as these mutated Ogres and the tribal leaders decided that if it put this much fear into people, they might be able to use this to their advantage when on the field of battle. They returned to their homes content with the idea of the gift the Maw bestowed upon them and became the self-declared keepers of the Maw, renaming their tribe the Mawkeepers. They not only strike fear into the hearts of their enemy upon surfacing, but have also become legendary in a good majority of the locals theology and a certain urban legend in their own right. The locals talk of demons that emerge at night with horns and red skin. They make their home in a pool of lava and brimstone. And if the local children do not behave, the old wives talk of them being sent to these demons as punishment.
So without further adu, the first of the Mawkeepers. Every few days I'll try to update some more. I have got a bit painted, but to not overwhelm with pics right off, I'll space it a bit. The army as it stands is a little more than halfway done at 2250 points.

The ogre reminds me strongly of South Park's Satan. Where's Saddam?
I like the basing - simple & effective.

Do you consider to use the rackham ogers which look a bit demon like? I think they would perfectly fit your concept.

Those would fit pretty well. I'm going to stick with GW models for it, but maybe I'll grab some up to use as Maneaters or something if I expand it in the future.

Love it, definitely digging the red skin + black pants + brass hitty / stompy bits. Props on the basing too, particularly the butcher who matches up with his crew's basing

Nice looking group.
Another model you might want to look at is the Rackham Drune Fomors. I am using some for my Ironguts in a counts as army, and they really have that horned daemon look, and are pretty cheap.

Oooh, clever ideas. Nice conversions. Very impressive looking army!
I like the brush strokes on the minis, too - in places where you can see them. Don't blend them out. These models have a lot of charm with those painterly touches tossed in.

Tonights update... Ironguts. Soon to have my Leadbelchers finished up. I'm also saving the rest of my basing until the end so I can make sure the lava is connected and consistent throughout the rest of the army.

Now that's superb attention to detail. I applaud you! Should make the forthcoming (I'm sure) army pics very nice indeed.

Thanks boss
Actually the ones I'm showing now have been done. I started this project at the end of March, I have about 3 units left, but I'd never done a good painting journal. So, while these are being shown I'm working on getting this thing finished. There isn't much left til you'll see where I'm at presently. Thanks for the feedback so far everyone
