To go along with my all terminator army from Space Hulk, I decided to create some HQs that could double as special characters when using variants of the same list. Usually i play deathwing with these boys but the backstories and artwork for Lysander and Marneus Calgar always appealed to me. For Marneus, i attempted to use the dead space marine terminator as the basis for the conversion of him. The iconic look for him has always been the pic below and i attempted to emulate it (but not copy it exactly as i'm keeping the blood angel iconography and space hulk feel).

As for Lysander, I actually normally use him as Belial since I more frequently use the Dark Angel Deathwing rules for my Space Hulk terminator army. His arms are magnetized at the forearm and i've got all the possible weapon combinations for him (check out my "my armies" gallery for pics of him and the army if you're interested). So, here's my take on the vanilla marine codex's selection of terminator special characters:

Eventually, i'm planning on going back to my force and adding more facial detail as well as some highlighting but frankly i'm tired of working on terminators after finishing off 35 or so in the past year. C&C are welcome.

I love em, very nice conversions. The iconography bothers me a bit but hey there your models. Very good idea and work

yeah, they're still technically blood angels and i kept that on purpose to match the regular termies (and my other 5k of BA). i loved the space hulk termies so much i ended up getting enough to make an army of them (they were the first new BA figs in almost 10 years and this was before the rumors of them getting a new codex were starting to filter out). i may whore them out to other codicies for the rules but they'll always be BA at heart!

After finishing off my two characters, my space hulk-themed deathwing army now used every marine related fig/piece from the set. the terminator squads are deathwing squads, the dead terminator is a marneus calgar look alike ally from the Grey Knights (i doubt i'll ever use him but i thought he looked cool), the librarian and sergeant lorenzo are my HQs (Belial and a Librarian), while the CAT and chalices are my objective markers. I'm signed up for a tourney later this month and realized i probably should have a display board to move my guys around in and also for the extra few points on painting it gives. keeping with the theme, i decided to multipurpose my space hulk box and tiles as the display case. The naked tiles on the box looked too simple so i spray painted the inside of the box gloss black and added in a bunch of cityfight bits as corridor walls and corners o give it a bit more 3d feel. The paint job on the corridors is pretty simple (black base, drybrush boltgun, drybrush brass, paint skulls white) but meets a 3-color criteria. would you guys consider the display to meet the general criteria below of being a "fully painted display base"?

# Army has a full painted display base - 1 **
# Display base has a lot of detail / advanced painting or scene - 2 **

i personally don't think i meet the criteria for the second one but do for the first. if you click on the pic below, it'll take you to the dakka gallery and let you do some zooming in on the details as needed.

here's at least some of the army that will be deploying on it. since taking the pics, i've added some dreads and a chaplain that aren't pictured. i'll pretty much be putting a squad in each room of the hulk for the display. when i made the basing choice, i wasn't thinking of a space hulk theme but more of what colors on the base look cool with the scheme on the models. now i have to find out why the terminators look like they're walking through a snowy rock quarry in space...

Calgar looks bored but still a nice conversion.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

lol, yeah, he slouches a bit but not much i can do about since he's based off of a dead terminator objective. besides, once you get a special rule called God.of.War!!, its hard to find things to get excited about.

do it. i remember the fig but alot of newer players don't. i thought about adding in the two honor guard behind marneus in the pic of him from 4th edition that i based the conversion on but decided against it. i wanted the fig to resemble the pic but not be exactly the same (he is, after all, festooned with BA bling!).

Apparently I wasn't too tired with painting terminators as I just finished the army when I decided to get yet another tactical dreadnought fig... the mighty chaplain in this case. I've never been a fan of the ammo belt hanging from the stormbolter as it always felt to chaos-y to me so i clipped it off and repositioned the right arm to better match my non-line officer commander, the librarian. As with the rest of the army, I eventually plan on coming back to do highlighting and additional facial details but for now the HQs as well as the rest of the army are done.

lol, i thought i was the only one who wanted to convert the dead guy to something more useful! i like the head you chose for yours as it definitely captures the 80's hair flair that the blood angel pretty boys are supposed to have. i had to use grumpy bald marine since it was the closest i could find to a marneus head.

as for the black armor on snow, thanks! i specifically chose it to make the models stand out. i was tired of grass flock basing and my first army had the plain gravel basing with some black wash but it looked too simple combined with the space hulk figs. eventually, i decided to get a tub of railroad snow and add it to stick out. it seemed like a great idea until i put together my tourney "display base" which is made from the left over space hulk tiles.. now i have to explain every time why my terminators have snow and gravel at their feet while exploring a space ship! as for the custom chapter paint scheme, it's based on my 3rd edition BA marine scheme where i reversed the colors of the traditional BA's. my regular guys are mainly black while the death company are mainly red (they're technically the old metal DA vets with red robes).
