i am finishing up the painting of my infiltration slaanesh army, now with the new GT rules my local club will be switching to the same style in out local tournaments. so it is now "game on" i can retire my IG.

Now in putting the list together i was wondering if anyone has done the math on how many rolls on the minor powers list would be optimal. of course 6 rolls would be, but are 6 rolls needed . would 5 be better ? 10 points cheaper and you get to re-roll doubles... just wondering if anyone has crunched the numbers.

and before anyone complains that siren is lame. yeah i know. but its funny as hell.

When I'm in power, here's how I'm gonna put the country back on its feet. I'm going to put sterilizing agents in the following products: Sunny Delight, Mountain Dew, and Thick-Crust Pizza. Only the 'tardiest of the 'tards like the thick crust.

Hmm, i was warned somewhere for posting this numbers off-topic on a forum.
Now the chances for getting Siren (or another one select power) per minor powers purchased:
1: 16.67 % wow
2: 32.78 %
3: 48.12 %
4: 62.40 %
5: 74.95 %
6: 84.57 %
7: 91.04 %
8: 95.03 %
9: 97.33 %
and soooo on, never quite reaching the ultimate goal.
Rounded to hundreds, too unpatient to run this simple (trivial, etc.) program more than 100 000 000 times with pseudo-random numbers. It can be infinitely precise, if given an eternity.

If you don't get Siren, you're screwed anyway, right?

Or if you play battle sisters or grey knights.

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

Or if you play battle sisters or grey knights.

Immunity to Siren is very, very poor recompense to the Grey Knights' player who draws a Slaanehsi list. Recycling Mounted Daemonettes? Oi!

Marine Librarians are a problem, right? Doesn't the psychic hood interfere with psychic powers?

A psychic hood on a ld 10 model has something like a 41.67% chance to negate Siren.

Yeah, the only have to negate it once, then shoot a load of firepower at the siren prince to whipe out most of the army.

41% chance to stop it every turn, well that is rather inconveniant. I would hate to put my DP out in the open in front of a shooty SM army and rely on my 59% to keep me alive. Damn marines!

Solution: don't stand in front of their guns? Oh, and kill the one in the dress (with the silly hat) first.

The prevalence of Librarians has had the metagame effect of toning down Siren. Sure, it's just as nasty as ever it was against non-Marines, but since everyone and his dog plays marines, and the Librarian is such an overwhelmingly attractive HQ (just for Fear of the Darkness, if nothing else), it gets much harder to spend the 100 or so points needed to turn an HQ into the Siren Prince.

The truly interesting thing will be to see how this affects tournaments like Adepticon's Gladiator.
Attend:
1) Siren is much less reliable against Marines with Librarians.
2) Marines with Librarians (particularly in drop pods) are very competitive lists, and likely to appear at tournaments.
3) Therefore, taking Siren is a less-attractive option, over, say, Iron Warriors, or Space Marines.
4) Because Siren is less attractive, the need for a Librarian is diminished.
5) Librarians are less effective against other Space Marines and flavors non-psychic of Chaos, which other people have a greater incentive to bring, because of the existence of Librarians.

Hypothesis: If you don't have to worry about Siren, you don't need a Librarian, and can instead bring something else, even non-Marines.

Therefore, I predict nothing but Feral Ork and 100+ man Seer Council armies at the Adepticon Gladiator.

Slaanesh minor powers are gift of the gods. The FAQ states, that only the Category "Psychic Abilities and Equipment" does not count against the 150p limit for equipment. Byebye siren

100+ Seer council won't win the gladiator. They will be annoying and maybe prevent someone from winning but they won't win

Chaoskas, unfortunately neither the Adepticon judges nor the GW judges (see prevalence of Siren in UK GT) agree with that position.

The v3 FAQs for CSM made their position pretty clear - psychic powers, including minor ones, don't count against wargear limits. While the logical argument constructed for v4 using the wording of the present CSM FAQ makes for fun debate, in practice I think you'll find that a tournament that will allow minor powers won't count them as wargear.

I know a few organizers which discovered this and apply it to their tournaments. But I guess it will take some time to convince others. The UK GT seems to be a great spot for rules like changing the interpretation of siren in the middle of the tournament or the effects of fury (as read here on dakka² ).

Guess I have to search for the v3 FAQ again, v4 is strict for categories. But it doesn't matter. The first 10-15" minutes we debate if the siren is legal or not and the next 30" we discuss my "Master on a Bartable" Model (for Ld10 without needing to buy it ). *g*
