Hey guys,

I've observed that the Perry Brothers do not make British infantry with the iconic tricorne hats and that, rather, the only thing resembling them are the continental infantry.

I suppose that as uniforms were dictated more by fashion than nationality it is likely that were I to paint the continentals red instead of blue, they'd look like redcoats... but do any Dakkaites have experiences of these models that might suggest otherwise?

What had initially put me off was the little bit of cloth or something that's on the front of each man's tricorne (I thought it might be a revolutionary rosette of some type) but I notice that the officers on the Grenadier blister that arrived today (woo!) have the same thing, sort of looks like a little bow... Is this acceptable on an enlisted man?

Thanks... hopefully with this information I may be able to raise a nice little skirmish force for a diorama

Edit: Figured I should include a picture.

While I no nothing about the rules. It was common for Tories (pro British Militia) to fight along side British Regulars. So historically it did happen

It looks as if they will work fine for regular infantry but not for grenadiers, who had special hats. The foreign units like Hessians probably had slightly different uniforms. Going by this pic, Hessians seem to have had coloured pompoms on their hats.

An easy addition with green stuff, I would suggest.

You should be fine unless you play against a uniform fanatic.

I don't know much about the period's uniforms, but you can do some Googling and maybe look at a Osprey book.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Ah well I already have some grenadiers that I bought, I'm simply after some regulars now

Good call about Osprey, will take a gander at Google Books.

@Makarov

I'm actually painting these to inspire me to do some work on my dissertation. I'm researching the motivations and demographics of the Tories, funnily enough

They showcased some of the 3-ups at Salute in April.

I suspect Q4 this year for release...
