The Planet of Gan-Haden

Civilized wold, source of underwater life that produces chemicals that when combined, create weapons grade plasma. Its seasons are very wet, considering that the wet season in itself is 8 months long. Gan-Haden was first founded in the age of strife by peoples that wanted to escape the civil unrest of earth, and the colonists happened upon this world, settling it and harvesting the mighty Cigilgan whale for food needs. During the dark age of technology many abominable practices were preformed by the high classes of people and almost ended in destroying the planets fragile ecosystem. It is from this that most of the planets populace are bitterly against implanting of bionics and artificial enhancement of the human body. When discovered by the Magi of mars to have plasma factories, they came to claim the planet as a factory world. The entire world rose up in protest and told the Cult of the machine god that if they wanted the world as their own then they would have to kill every man woman and child on the planet to get it. Since the Magi had no idea on how to harvest the aqua lifeforms, they needed the Gan-Haden people to do it for them. No one knows the details of the transaction but the Magi sent to gan-haden were allowed to build a lunar workshop on the smaller of its moons.

The first Gan-Haden regiment to be raised from this world was in response of the distress astropath signal from the nearby system of 'Whispers Stop'. An ork crusade had come to the planet to change it into a staging post for future incursions. The regiment of Gan-Haden was one of the first imperial forces to arrive but since they were raised in such haste, they were ill prepared for the orks brutal tactics. Almost the entire regiment was wiped out in the first assault, leaving only 7 troopers from scattered squads alive. Those 7 troopers, emporer be praised, learned very quickly about the stubble arts of infiltration and espionage, and successfully framed one of the ork warlords for trying to assassinate the leader of the crusade, therefore causing animosity between the clans and giving the imperial defenders time to group and scatter the green skins back into space. Those 3 troopers (4 died in the attempt) were rewarded with command positions in the recently raised gan-haden regiment, and were given permission to train the recruits. Never again have any regiments from the Gan-Haden sector been wiped out. They learned from their mistakes about preparedness, and implemented many new doctrines and trainings.

well, they are my regiment in the medusa V campaign. As the time goes on, i'll write more. But heres the Fluff on the commander of the Gan-Haden 'Wildcards'

Lieutenant Colonel Dutch Fishborne

Age 32

Ht 6'0?

brown hair, hazel eyes, med build, very charismatic

Known for his motto ?everyone fights, everyone returns?

Unlike most regiment commanders, fishborne was not born on Gan-Haden. He originally came with a group of pilgrims headed to the shrine world of 'Starwood' when assaulted by dark eldar pirates. His father, mother, and uncle were killed in trying to help fishborne and his two sisters escape out of the battle. They only managed to make it by flying through and asteroid field in one of the ships escape pods, and after 4 days of drifting in space were rescued by a rogue trader merchant on his way to the Gan-Haden system to buy some much valued weapons grade plasma. But once there, the captain and his crew wouldn't allow the three children back aboard the ship and left them in the lunar workshop. The stowed away on the next departing shuttle to the planet and were wandering the streets of the spaceport 'sky's reach' when found by an older couple that had one son of their own. They took pity on the dirty trio and took them in, raising them as their own.

When old enough Fishborne enlisted at the nearest Imperial Guard recruitment center for combat duty. When he was 19 he proved his valor during the assault of 'Whysle 3' and was put into the officer training program. During his late 20s he won the respect of all the Gan-Haden guardsmen by way of the revolt on 'Chestna Prime' earning himself the rank of Colonel. In the climax of the fighting, fishborne and his company were stationed at the defense of the spaceport. An unknown force of rebels broke through the loyalist lines, killing no less than 7 entire regiments of the local PDF force. And in the confusion, the rebels made good use of time and stormed the command bunker, killing every staff member there.

When word finally reached Fishborne, he also received signals that the spearhead group of the new rebel assault was heading for the spaceport to escape the retribution of the guard armies. Upon hearing this, Fishborne gave what was known by his men as 'The emporers speech? rallying what remnants of the decimated regiments he could, and dug in the hills just outside the spaceport for the oncoming doom. Nothing would have prepared him for the fight he had. In his journal he wrote:

0900 the first contacted rebel forces destroyed the scout sentinels sent to investigate markers 20-45 going off line

0907 first sightings of enemy approach, targets described as the emporers space marines but with gruesome trophies and horns on their helmets. They were painted red and bronze, but for some unknown reason, they were not in transports

0916 the first battle cannon shots rang out, this gave me and my men reassurance in the emporers all guiding hand

0921 I ordered my men to concentrate on the lead group of red marines, only the plasma weaponry had effect on them, our lasguns bounced off!

0923 Only in my nightmares have i seen such demons, one red marine started to convulse and by the emporer, he transformed into a gigantic beast with a huge ax and bat wings! I knew that the lead platoon wouldn't last long in an assault by that thing, so i ordered every gun under my command to bring that monster down! Emporer be praised, it worked... but in doing that, the 4 red marines accompanying the demon reached my men

0924 squad diamond was torn limb from the assault, and the remnants were about to retreat until i reached them and gave them every encouragement and threat i knew to keep them fighting! Frag me it worked!

0925 i then personally lead the counter charge with Duce platoon and relived those brave men, and succeeded in beheading the last marine.

0932 battle was over, 9 dead 34 wounded, burial details need to be organized.. Praise to him for this victory.

After the dust settled about the command staff needing reworking, fishborne took command of the entire loyal force (no officer over the rank of captain survived the attack) And has since been proven to be a capable leader. The troops of Gan-Haden nicknamed the regiment 'Wildcards' in memory of Fishbornes joker card inside his helmet.  They are now on route to the Medusa V campaign.

Any suggestions?
