I am looking into a  LatD army and looking at it from a fluff perspective.  As in they recruiting traitors for CSM inducting and such.

I love the word bearers idea but would like to some how incorporate it fluff wise into my Black Legion army (mostly because I like the black and gold color scheme).  I was under the impression that Black Legion were just the head of the CSM (when they are organized) and are Abbaddon's personal legion.

In the LatD army  the idea of Imp guard traitors following a CSM with a cursed croxious leading them,  in a damned/fallen priest sort of way sounds pretty fluffy and fun.  The traitors would be backed by equipment on loan from the black legion... rhinos and a defiler.

The idea is just that the word bearers taint thier beliefs and lur them to chaos to bolster the ranks of Abbaddon's crusades.  It sounds loose, trying to figure out how it could work fluff wise.  Sorry if it seems incoherent, I am a little out of it today.

Seems not so wrong, that the BL lends a Word Bearer Priest to support their minons spiritual. Or he just betrayed the Word Beares. Traitor Traitors are a common thing.

Over there... no, wait, AARGH!

Sounds fine in the context of a black crusade. Remember the traitor legions fight each other a hell of a lot, but alliances are also common, so there's no real problems I can see. In fact I've always liked the idea of guard being backed up by marines, whether it be loyalist with grey knights or whatever allied to them, or traitors with a squad of chaos marines backing them up.

Still trying to operate tape cassettes

If you're not using many CSM's in the army, why not use a BL colour scheme, but use Word Bearer Rules?

Or just use a BL leader, and give him a Crosius, but count it as a power weapon.

This may not be of much fluff help to you but I was considering painting a Word Bearers scheme and using them as Black Legion when the mood strikes. I don't really see a reason why you need to justify it.

You have to be careful though... The BL wouldn't have any Croxius simply cause they have not chaplains, The word bearers are the only CSM that have them.

but yeah alliance between chaos legions are fairly common as already stated

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.
