Honestly, Robots seem pretty terrible at the moment. I think you'd be better served with some Dragoons and some Raiders, both are mobile units that can go do stuff while your slower elements plod along or castle up.
That's unfortunate to hear. I had done some googling and found an admech list that placed pretty well at an event with two units of 4 robots, he could of just gotten lucky in his matchups or rolled hot during his games.
