I'm really interested in Fulgrim's apotheosis, and like Perty as well...
but so many HH books are big stinkers (tm)...

any input on how well the book is written and if you consider it worth the read for those two characters?

Thanks!
Chris

Yes. Warmly recommended.

I am more interested in worldbuilding and painting a living setting than in big characters. Angel Exterminatus delivers surprisingly good writing on all counts here. It was on another level than the Graham McNeill books I had read before, all of which played with interesting ideas, but overall were mediocre. This book is solid through and through.

I enjoyed the book as well. While Fulgrim certainly has a starring role, I was surprise by how much I enjoyed that the Iron Warriors and Peturabo. Set me up well for Seige of Terra.

I read it because it was next in the series, buuuut- I didn't enjoy it 100%. I guess it may be because I don't like Fulgrim post- Laer blade craziness, and Perty is always a petulant man-child. A genius, capable and dependable man-child: but a man-child nonetheless.

I think I get more out of the short-story anthologies because thy fill in some info between books. For Example,
Spoiler:
Eristede Kell is shown in one short story being turned to Chaos. Without that filler story, it'd be weird seeing him try to kill Horus- then the next book, he's working for Mr. evil baldhead man.

I liked it mainly for Perturabo's part.
