I am still getting confused about some interactions between leaders and bodyguard units and have been hearing contradictory answers so I have two scenarios that I would like people opinions on:

1) A leader and a bodyguard unit have different toughness's, an enemy unit attacks the unit and destroys the bodyguard unit and there are still more attacks to allocate to the leader. Are the remaining attacks that must now be allocated to the leader rolled against the bodyguard units toughness or the leaders?

2) A leader has a special ability that requires it to be leading a unit to function, lets say here a 4+ invul and an enemy unit attacks the unit and destroys the bodyguard unit and there are still more attacks to allocate to the leader. Do the leader still get the special ability against those attacks?

1. At the point you're allocating attacks which have wounded (Step 3 of Making Attacks), you've already determined whether the attack has wounded the unit (Step 2). When you rolled it, you would have used the bodyguard unit's Toughness.
2. Yes, you still get it until all the attacks from the attacking unit are resolved, as per "While This Model is Leading a Unit" in the Rules Commentary.

That's if you are fast rolling. The other way is to do each attack separately. Roll to hit, roll to wound, allocate, save, damage, next dice. For example if there was a unit with three bodyguard models and a leader and four attacks are made and the first three kill the bodyguards what does the fourth roll to wound against? if it is against the bodyguard's toughness I can fast roll them all. If not then the last has to be done separately.

Good point. However, it's still the Unit's Toughness, as per "Unit's Toughness Characteristic" in the Rules Commentary which states that the Toughness is determined when the unit is selected as a target, which is before you start making any rolls at all.

That's the answer I was looking for.
