Those are trench rails; when the vehicle crosses a trench they ensure that the vehicle does not topple in backwards when crossing one.

Yup. You will notice from the crewman that these "HH" tanks are originally Death Korps of Krieg tanks, hence the trench modifications and upgraded filtration systems.

But the larger Mars-Alpha hulls, more techy Ryza turrets, and the filtration systems and trench rails make the tank look quite distinct and more high-tech than the standard Russ. I think that is why they re-marketed them as the Solar-Auxilia Leman Russ.
