I've recently picked up a Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun (it's in the Imperium Magazine Premium set which was only £35 on eBay - a complete steal in my opinion) and checking the Wargear Abilities it says 'place a Grot assistant token next to the bearer, removing it once this ability has been used.'

Immediately my mind wanted to jump on eBay and grab some grot models to use as tokens but I wanted to know what everyone else is doing!

I play Orks and write about Warhammer 40K stuff at iplay40k.com

I've got enough grots that this is not an issue.
Old metal, old plastics, current plastics, goblins from other systems....

A lot of units come with random Grotz to use.

Yeah I was kinda surprised the model didn't come with one if it's a 'requirement' - then I remembered it's GW and reali$ed the issue

Looks like I'm off to eBay after all - thanks!

Unless you want some particular sculpt?
I'd just ask around the local shop. Odds are someone has a spare grot/goblin lying about in a box.
Offer them a dollar/buy them a soda in exchange. It'll be cheaper than paying shipping for 1 goblin.

I would use some of the Ram-Man 2nd edition Gretchin

Yeah that's a great idea! No particular sculpts in mind, I was kinda hoping people would be like 'aah yes I use the grots from xyz set because they look the coolest' and a friend actually recommended the grots from the Mek Gun set as, indeed, they do look the coolest but spending £30 for 5 little grots seems obscene even for me.

Another great suggestion, they are only £2-3 online so I'll be sure to grab a few at some point and paint them up!

It's a grot sized token. Don't overthink it. You might as well get a nice fantasy goblin plastic box from shieldwolf or mantic (or returning TOW minis that were just announced) and use them as unit fillers for your actual grots as well as all the tokens.

Overthinking is all I know how to do! I'm going to use an army of the TOW cauldron grot because it looks the coolest

Orks also have human slaves if you have a suitable model.

Interesting! Perhaps I'll pick up a few and shake things up a bit. Would be good if I'm facing an Imperial Guard player, give them the same uniform and get some trash talk flowing
