I've posted a Kickstarter Update! Admittedly, it's just me waffling on about background stuff. But there's pretty pictures!

Which I'll also post here as well, anyway. But still, Kickstarter Update!

Thanks again to all you lovely Backers, you... we really couldn't do what we do without your support!

Wouldn’t miss it. Have been collecting these for years now. They look nice in pictures but are truly glorious in person.

I've posted another Kickstarter Update. Once again, it's me spouting made-up stuff about mice with swords. But there's more pretty pictures!

Thanks again, everyone! We really appreciate your support!

Looking great! I might back, or wait for retail to pick up a few of my favourites (the highland otter and pirate polecat are great).

Probably the shortest kickstarter I've seen, curious about why a 5 day window is best for a campaign? I can understand why 30 days is a chore, but most I see are around 2-3 weeks.

I personally find it hard to budget or have time to mull the backing over when it's such a short space of time.

It's not the shortest one we've done - we ran one for 24 hours a few years back, and that went well!

This is our 18th project now, so we've got some experience with the process. If you're a big company doing a boardgame with multiple stretch goals, then yes, you need a longer project time. When you're doing a small project though, less than a week works best.

If you research a few Kicktraqs, and look at the daily data, you'll notice small projects with long run times lose a lot of backers through the middle. That's because a small project doesn't have all the stretch goal bells and whistles to keep the excitement going.

Also, as a small producer, most of the backers will be existing fans of the product. And they'll be following our social media, and will already known in advance and budgeted accordingly.

And frankly, if five days isn't long enough for someone to decide if they want them or not, they probably weren't going to back anyway; Kickstarter tends to be a more 'excited/I love that/back it now!' thing, whereas the 'mulling over whether to buy or not' tends to suit the webstore more.
We have both sorts of customer - there's a few in the Facebook Group who want to pick and choose, so they're waiting for them to hit the webstore.

But seriously, if you're a small business, and the project has limited scope, keep it short!

Thanks for the detailed reply and advice, it's a lot to think about, I'm a sculptor too (digital amateur with third KS just finished) and have been taking the approach of "throw the kitchen sink at stretch goals" to keep momentum going throughout a longer campaign which has worked, but left me with months of full-time work to deliver on projects, with a not-so-great hourly rate. I might try shorter campaigns and solve the "slow middle" issue by not really having a middle to the campaign, maybe 9 days for my next one, since it'll be really limited in scope.

I backed the campaign in the last 20 minutes, glad to see it being such so successful, Burrows & Badgers has been my reliable "get non-gamers interested into tabletop games" game, loads of fun whenever I've demoed it and very easy to get into, a friend ended up buying way more minis than me since she's a furry who really likes the Redwall novels.

No problem - with our first project (10 years ago, which doesn't seem possible!) we did 30 days, and had the same issue. I had to sculpt more stuff, and even then, people were dropping out.
Short and with a limited number of minis is best, I've found. Helps with the turnaround as well; fulfillment's just easier with less minis!

Anyway, that's it! The Kickstarter is done and funded. Now we just have to deliver it...

One final picture; nothing to do with the Kickstarter, really. I'm just showing off!

cheers
Michael

You have all the reasons to show it off.

It's one of the rare cases of minis done the right way. Great designs, hand sculpted and casted traditionally. What's not to like.

I have to say the industry changed so much that Im even thinking not going to Salute anymore, only very few companies, like yours, tempt me to still attend.

So keep up the good work.
