I've had this rather excellent late 80s Jes Goodwin sorcerer in my pile of shame for ages now, zenithal primed but otherwise languishing. Well, this afternoon, as my fiance was having a nap, I had a fit of creative energy and decided to actually pick my brush up and paint for once, having neglected to do so for at least a month. A few hours later and I had this!
This sculpt was a joy to paint, being nicely detailed without being horribly busy. A variety of paints were used (Nostalgia 88 Go Fasta Red formed the basis for the red robe) but Insignia White from Vallejo was the real hero of the hour- mixing it into the base colour for basically everything to get the highlights. I love Insignia White. Also, Contrast was used for certain parts- Aggaros Dunes over the zenithal primer to start off the bony bits (with subsequent highlights of course) and Plaguebearer Flesh on the visor and knife over some underpainting (and again with some highlights after the fact) to give that lovely toxic look.
Overall I'm really quite happy with him. He isn't perfect, but he's definitely above tabletop quality and I think the scheme fits the vibe of the sculpt. I'm planning on using him both as an INQ28 Chaos warband character and in Brawl Arcane as my wizard; I need to make him some minions...
