You are a rogue trader.. What would you pack

Lets assume that you are a rogue trader in the 40k universe with access to a vast array of alien and imperial technology. What weapon would you choose provided price and imperial law were no obsticals for a trader such as yourself? Personally I would have to go with a tau pulse rifle. High strenght long range, reasonably portable, no chance of melting your own face off. Whats not to like?

A warscthe of a Pariah. Gives me a punch in Close combat for bording action, allows me to cut doors and vehicles open to get at stuff inside that I want. Oh, and so I can flay peoples faces of if they look at me funny.

Terminator armour with an assault cannon on one arm and a heavy flamer on the other. Stuff combat, you're burning biatches. I'll also take a crap load of gun/shield drones, a servo arm, a shadowfield and a vortex grenade.

Dire Avenger Shuriken Catapult

Little recoil
No muzzle flash that can give away my location
Abundant ammo storage

Also I believe shuriken catapults are relatively reliable weapons, bolters, hell guns, and probably tau weapons need a lot of maintenance to function.

If I wanted to go crazy I would upgrade to a shrieker cannon- it is an assault weapon so I can still fire it on the move. And it makes my enemy explode.

Oh yeah,

Vortex Grenade - it is a little risky, but if I had a carnifex breathing down my neck it would be a definite asset

reedit- But at least I would be able to throw. Greebynog were you planning one bringing along a dozen tech priest to maintain all that equipment. You would be an explosion waiting to happen – one minor malfunction and ka-boom!

If one were enterprising enough, one could probably make a very effective shotgun style for a boltgun.. Give me that and a lightning claw, oh, and whatever biological or cybernetic enhancements needed to be able to fire said super shotgun without dislocating my shoulder! Then a Dark Eldar drug dispenser.. This is the 41st millennium, I doubt my life expectancy will be to greatly impacted by the introduction of powerful stimulants..

Here is my ultimate setup:

Dire Avengers shuriken catapult (or Shrieker Cannon) – reasons stated above
Shadow Field – 2+ invulnerable save - much better than terminator armor. After I take one wound I’m fleeing the battle anyway.
Aspect level mesh armor – the plates are cool and it provides the best protection without restricting movement or making me a bigger target
Chameleoline cloak - +1 to cover saves, I plan on hiding a lot.
Hell Mask – LD test to hit me in combat
Fusion Pistol – str. 8 melta pistol anyone who gives me a dirty look gets vaporized quick draw style
Agonizer – power weapon that wounds on a 4+; plus I sure it stings like crazy
Vortex Grenade - Throw it and run

As many grenades I can get. I would probably stick to haywire grenades so I don’t accidentally blow myself up.

A Wraithguard – The wraith cannon can take out anything, its fearless, I could hide behind it, and if it freezes due to wraithsight it gives the enemy something to hack up while I make a run for it.

Feel free to call me a coward, but with all this equipment I have a lot to live for.

, Shokk Attack Gun, XV22 battle suit and i should be set ... oh and an iron halo for the win

In addition to my previous post:

A Land Raider Crusader with crew. And forget one wraithguard give me seven. We would all ride along in the raider and I would get to fire the twin-linked assault cannons. Anything big gets in my way the wraithguard hop zap it untill it's occupying the warp, all the while I'm monitoring the battle's progress from my comfy chair (specially installed). Plus how cool would it be to scream ramming speed while sitting in a land raider?

And maybe swooping hawk wings – battle doesn’t go my way off I go

And if anyone says I can’t count wraithguard as wargear; there was an old Warhammer 40K book, Into the Eye, I think it was called, in which a human trader was accompanied by a wraithguard which he was going to sell to a buyer.

Even that (the titan- edit for clarification) seems somewhat restricted - "Go down to the planet and fight a hundred or so orks, I don't think so- schedule the Exterminalus (Sp?)"

My point you can't present a blank check to gamers and expect it not to get abused. And by the way I win the most cheesiest abuse of this post.

Yeah that doesn’t support my previous statement about you being an explosion waiting to happen or anything.

And in defense of my ownership of a LRC; aren’t Land Raiders a dedicated transport for inquisitors and chapter masters. If they get to ride around in their own personal Land Raider I don’t see why I can’t.

Here’s 2nd Edition for you:
Power Maul
Graviton gun
Web pistol
Hallucinogen Grenades

That’s right I’m going non-lethal.
A graviton gun will stop anything it hits, than I could web it up, smack it around with my power maul a few times, and then finally hit with a hallucinogen grenade. Aren’t I just the best example of a humanitarian you ever seen?

Here is a bunch I just thought of:

I would take the swooping Hawk wings with their feet grenades. I would just fly around drop those pie-plates on the enemy. I sure I could think of other things to drop on them as well.

Stealth suit and a dark reaper tempest launcher – “You guys go fight the enemy I am going to hide in seclusion bombing the enemy indiscriminately – try my darnest not to hit any of you”. The way blast and guess range weapons reduce the need for decent BS I wouldn’t even have to be sober to carry this out – I can’t see my hand in front of my face but I’m scoring direct hits on the enemy every 1 out to 3 shots.

Terminator armor: I won’t wear it, I would leave it on the battlefield in plain sight of the enemy. When they rush it I trigger the demo charges I stuffed it with.

Teleporter Homer: Not for my army, for my enemy’s; I would just leave it in a latrine pit.

A friendly orgryn I could ride like Master-Blaster

Polymorphine – I would take the form of a man wearing a red sweater and cap while my ship took orbital surveillance photos of battle. Afterwards I would have my surviving crew play "Where’s Waldo".

Combat Drugs – not for me, for my ratlings

Scokk attack gun- instead of grotz I would use the above mentioned ratlings

Mega-armour – just for the shock value

Neural Disruptor- I’m not even going to get started I what I would do with one of these.

An Inquisitor’s Symbol – that little metal “I” talisman they carry around and use to boss around planetary governors and chapter masters. I won’t abuse it though.

Stuff I could keep hidden under a trenchcoat
Like
A bolt, ripper, or exitus pistol
A Fusion Pistol
And a knife from Catachan, like a Fang
maybe some grenades
anything else is overkill and, though undoubtedly great fun to use, will mark you out as an obvious and serious threat.
Better to stay discreet in my opinion

Besides, you can always keep the big toys in the trunk for when you really need them.

A camo cloak, suspensor equipped exitus rifle and twin plasma pistols. Sit back in cover, blasting away, and when the enemy gets too near...

Well let's just say that 2 plasma pistol shots to the face won't be pretty...

Oh, and the exitus rifle would probably be modified to rapid fire.

I'm not exactly the most accurate shot..

Oh, nearly forgot, my local GW store is doing a linked selection of games, with rule made up for us based on our personalities.

Can re-roll to wound with sniper rifle.

Blood of the Stalker Kroot Totem
Combat Drugs
Hell Mask
Trophy Rack
Eviscerator with attached Exterminator

And to complete the ensemble I would of course be striped down to my underwear. I bet even orks would flee when they see me charging towards them.

I would also like to mention in my first post I was more then happy with the humble dire avenger shuriken catapult. And I gave very practical reasons why I would favorite it over the other basic guns in 40K. I just got caught up in the moment. Bear if mind I was following Greebynog post:

That being said I would like to state the benefits of a graviton gun:
It’s just a cumbersome as any other basic weapon. no disadvantage there
It’s non-lethal - great for taking prisoners
It can stop a charging carnifex
It completely disregards armour and toughness so nurgle terminators are just as vulnerable as grotz.

It’s cool to say “Graviton Gun”
The larger the creature the more vulnerable it is to the gun (fluff wise) – “I’m hunting squiggoths”

For those of you who have never played 2nd edition the graviton gun greatly enhances the targets gravity (surprised?) rendering the model immobile. You would actually have to leave the poor sap sitting there during the entire battle unable to defend himself/herself/itself. It was really fun to do when opponent had a tricked out character with multiple saves, enhanced toughness, and/or regeneration.

I would take a shrunken pistil, a compacted master-vox, and a laser pointer. Pistil to take out guys holding me or beating me in cards, a vox to call in a lance strike or landing party, and a laser pointer to lecture my enemies on their defeat, as well as blind those that annoy me. A laspistil can replace the laser pointer, they are the same thing.

If you want chesse though...
A Warlord titan in a modified torpedo tube on my ship filled with companies of wraithguard. I would be hanging out in a nice armchair in my panic room on my ship.
Btw the inquisition shoots titans at planets all the time. sort of…

My rogue trader fleet would consist of 15 emperor class battleships, each of which is accompanied by it's own fully activated blackstone fortress as a support vessel...

On board each battleship would be 15 webway gates to wherever I wanted big enough to take a small but perfectly formed kill team consisting of....

10 Imperator Emperor Class Titans.

The Imperators shall be painted with Cameleoline for added stealth capabilities.

Each camoflaged Imperator wil carry a full battle company of grey Knights.

Myself and my small fleet and elite entourage will cruise the space lanes around a selection of Ratling planets (not Ornsworld, too dangerous) and occasionally send out for pizza and other food.

Beat that...

The idea is that at least one of them will absolutely not land on its feet.

The result is so much better than a vortex grenade that it isn't funny anymore.

2 shuriken pistols with bio-explosive ammo: wounds on a 2+, causes victims to explode like a grenade, and forces a moral test. In my opinion, one of the meanest guns in the game. And if group of people charge me I only need to hit one. Take that would be mutiny!

Powerblades: a power weapon that does not require my hands so I’m free to use both pistols. While staying well equipped for hand to hand.

Both items are from the old harlequin codex

The most typical rouge trades have to deal with are; pirates, disgruntled buyers, mutinies, and maybe a forced drafting. They are not likely going to be in a position where they going to be standing in a battlefield with a wraithlord bearing down on them. The weapons would be easily stored on my person and concealed if need be. I could go about be daily trading and piloting activities well armed and unhindered.

see.. it all comes down to WHICH daemonettes you are talking about.. the 4th ed plastics (pass) .. 3rd ed NSFW chicks (yes! Please!).. 3rd ed Giant Crab Claws (they may have other "crab" issues)..

Gimme the hot chicks.. yes. I have a customized LR with crushed velvet interior, anti-Nurgle waterbed, mood lighting and James Brown daemonhosting the onboard Machine Spirit. Call it the Spirit of the 70's...
