Just the Caves part of the AMA (I don't have time to watch the rest yet)
- New renders for Dwarves and traps - some traps have moveable parts.
- Added small rock pins to fill gaps in floors
- 3 sculptors currently working on project
- Mushroom set laid out - there was extra space so they added 3 more spore columns (Only 1 in SGs).I think I’d have preferred more regular mushrooms and just 1 extra column. It was one of the sprues they asked about selling separately in the survey so that might happen - at least the sprue is fully themed to the mushrooms.
- Railroad sprue laid out. Again probably be available separately as well.
- Ba'Lors Gate has been tooled.
- Deep Mines tooled.
- Spiders Nest tooled - next up for prepaint testing.
- BoTB prepaint testing under way (on 3D prints not final plastic)
And from the update
we've reached an agreement with Paizo and the Pre-painted Abomination Vaults will be available in the Pledge Manager.

Poor stretch goals, overpriced bundles and vat added at the end.
People complained about the VAT being added at the end for Caves as well, but given differing tax rates (could be 0 for some places in the states, 5 to 15% in Canada, and up to 20% in places in Europe) there isn't really another way to do it. Either you are losing a big chunk of your margin and footing the tax bill yourself, or having to institute different prices by country which I'm not sure Gamefound supports.
lord_blackfang wrote: Oooh. Well, listing the prices without VAT - or at the bare minimum a " (+VAT) " - is considered more than a bit disingenuous in the EU.
Unfortunately there is more than one country in the world. The campaign is in USD, and there is a section describing VAT / Import fees. Most webstore fronts have different regions for a purpose, so in addition to the currency they can adjust prices shown to include VAT or not as required. I dont know if Gamefound as the function, and even if it did, you'd get people complaining about why the prices in Eur or GBP are + ~20% over the exchange rate.
As someone who has lived in Canada, the States, and now the UK (both before and post Brexit) perhaps the context that taxes and import fees just shouldn't be assumed to be included comes more naturally.
Additionally, with the post Covid rise in online shopping, more countries are clamping down with mechanisms in place to collect taxes. For instance in the UK businesses have to register with HRMC even if they are outside the UK if they want to ship products to the UK. They then have to charge VAT when shipping to the UK but only if the value of the order is edit* under* £135.

This campaign is mainly meant for US backers and a "+ VAT" sign would be enough to scare off some of those people, this is why we added this information to a separate section on the website. We're still listening to feedback and with the most recent update, and every pledge will get an additional promo miniature.
Yeah, as someone from the EU, the prices for the bundles are... kind of uninteresting. I can find way better deals in retail stores, so it all depends on the content in the stretch goals.

More than a bit indeed... enough for me not to bother. Ah well.
Dawnbringer wrote:Unfortunately there is more than one country in the world.
And putting on the pledge level "(+ taxes)" is so very hard, of course. They're from the EU, you know. They know that is not really kosher.
I watched a few videos, and it certainly looks fun - any hands on experience from anyone here?
The fate card rules are a bit more complicated than they should but it is fun and very thematic. I wouldn't call it a good competitive game but for casual fun with friends it is nice.
What bothers me with the campaign is that some of the stretch goals are straight up items from other stretch goal characters. As if you would give the characters without the cards lol.
I played once, I was very impressed, it's basically more detailed Warhammer Underworlds with full card-based list building ala X-wing and intricate activation mechanics that allow you to pre-plan and optimize your whole turn in advance but there is room for improvisation in case your opponent does something unexpected. I would say the mental load is high, this is a Main Game, if you play it you play it all the time, you can't just bring it out twice a year when you're too tired to play 40k.
New stretch goals. I am still confused about whey they added character specific weapons as stretch goals and what will happen if the character is unlocked but the equipment is not.

What are the chances of updating the Captain pledge to allow Wave boxes in place of the Promo minis?
And on a vaguely related note, any chance of Battlecat and Panthor coming as separate models on their own? Or (long shot, I know) mounted versions, rather than having He-Man and Skeletor standing beside them?

The Captain pledge is only supposed to have the new promo miniatures available as it assumes you already have everything else from retail, so there aren't any plans to replace the promo miniatures with waves. Battlecat and Panthor as separate models are a possibility in the future, bud definitely not in the scope of this campaign.
@Szymon_Archon - could you please ask Jarek if we can have, in a near future, pack of huts like the one below or some other roughly medieval looking buildings to quickly set a small village?

Does that also mean that it's locked to the Snakemen and Preternia expansions? Because from the wording I had assumed it was any two.

He's currently in the US so I don't really have a way of asking him, but I don't see why not
The next campaign will be miniature focused but I'll see if we can fit something like that in on a sprue.

Yes, while you're able to select any two expansions, it's mainly meant for people who already have everything from retail. At this point, we'd have to restructure the entire campaign if we were to let people exchange the promo models for waves, as they have different values/costs.

Ok, that's all right then... I want particularly interested in the Preternia box, and hasn't picked up the last couple of expansions yet, so if it was locked to those specific expansions that would have been disappointing.

And that's fair enough. Just thought it was worth asking, since the promos are a dollar more than the wave boxes, so it seemed like a reasonable swap option.
£59, €69, $74 RRP for the Airship (Tarrasque pricing) - definitely be getting more at $39 in the PM. The 3 miniature sets in Caves are also $39 so that's an indication that they will be the at the Airship/Tarrasque price range at retail.

I don't think that is strictly true. They have indicated that the Caves mini sets aren't getting the usual crowd funding discount, though I think that was before they increased in size. Either way based on their other mini sets I'd except them to be £49 or $59 if they stay the current size, but I can also see them releasing a small number of minions at a much lower price (like the £18 $20 ghost pack), and then releasing the bosses separately like the current troll / giant (at £27, $31 point perhaps, depending how big they are).
Yeah, the Caves miniatures are definitely a little more expensive than usual because they're not part of any of the pledges. They weren't even planned to be added to this campaign which is why they aren't available through the pledges.
Our next campaign will feature the crowdfunding discounts on miniatures that you're used to
Oh, and if you have a wishlist for the next campaign (miniature focused) I'll be happy to hear it. A lot of it is probably gonna be stuff that's already been repeated here before so I may already have it written down, but if you have something that you feel strongly about, please feel free to repeat it.

Adding to my previous lists, I would like to see some properly done (when it comes to human body proportions) medieval looking, with not too much clothes and armour, skeletons with options for both melee and ranged combat. I would also like ghouls that are not bone fetishists like GW ones or zombie proxies like Mantic.
Lightly armed and armoured/unarmoured models with variety of masked/unmasked heads that could be bandits or cultists or assassin, would be nice to have.
New update on Caves on Gamefound with some new assets shown and another sprue tooled.
However a question for @Archon, a previous AMA mentioned some direct only products appearing on the website once the new one was up (stuff people have asked for but doesn't make sense for a retail release). I'm pretty sure that the new one is in place now, any update on the endeavour? (Personally hopping for the functional doors to show up somewhere somehow.)
Shadow Walker wrote: @Archon - when do you plan to start your new minis centered campaign?
It'll probably have to be next year, we already have so many campaigns planned for this year and we want to deliver Caves (or at the very least begin shipping) before we start a new campaign. We're hoping that it'll be our biggest campaign yet, although personally, I think it'll be quite difficult. We'll have to see how it goes ;D

I don't think we have any plans to reintroduce the functional doors at the moment, we've gone through 3 different iterations of the system and none of them have really worked the way we wanted it to. It's something that will likely be addressed in our next terrain campaign though!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Another issue with the functional doors is that the sprue also contains sci-fi doors, which can look off together with the fantasy doors...
@Archon - if there will be some pieces of terrain to go thematic with minis in your new campaign, please consider also small lake etc. water obstacles.

That's a shame, as I'm guessing the next terrain campaign is unlikely to be fulfilled until 25 / 26 it looks like I'll have to be off to ebay then.

Personally, I'd like us to add scatter terrain for the themed sets I have planned, although time will tell if this is something that will make it in.

Yeah, some graveyard to skeletons, some lake to frogmen etc. etc.
Shadow Walker wrote: So guys, if you would need just one mini to proxy all your draconic creatures needs, which one would you choose, Thos or wyvern?
I'd choose the red dragon if the game I'm playing/models using is very modern classic in style of models being used in general.
I'd pick the Wyvern if it were more old-school in style
Could you please give me some examples of both (like what games do you mean by those)?
Honestly I wasn't even thinking of a specific game. You could play almost any RPG like DnD with modern or classic style monsters if you go hunting around for designs and sculpts that fit the design style you're after.
