Yes.

Because remember that most trenches wouldn't actually have a line on the front and the back. If it doesn't feel like enough to you in the end? Take a hacksaw and cut straight down the middle.

Most trenches are actually trenches and not waist-height corridors, these will look a bit weird if you just cut them in half. The enclosed nature creates the illusion of entrenchment.

Each trench piece is around 9 1/2" long
The T junctions are 3 1/2"
Bunkers 5 1/2"
Firestorm 10"

The 45 degree angle pieces and end caps can add a little length too.

These are very specifically not trenches. Trenches would be lower than the ground.

By definition a trench would have a front and back, whether or not the front and back are constructed to the same standards is a different conversation. If it only has a front, its technically a breastwork or a parapet.

Oh sorry if I wasn't clear I was talking about turning Bastions into city walls.

My many, many, bastions are still in shipment but based on older posting each site is about 3.5" (disregarding the flair at the bottom). So if I line up one kit, use the half floors I should be able to make a 7" city wall. 6 kits, 42". So on a 6'x4' board I can block off the short end and have a 6" gate (to fill in with walls or barriers).

OR I can get 3 more kits, 63" of wall with an 11" gateway for the long side of the board.

Decisions, decisions...

Slightly wider, approximately 9.5cm.

If you have any of the old cities of battle wallsets the bastion central wall piece is exactly the same height and width as an old double wall section (those two sets and the shrine of the aquilia all fit together on the same scale).

Afraid the cities of death are in the same crate as the Leviathan (built from Bastions), the Fortress Precinct (build from Bastions) and the spare bastion bits

Somewhere between Cairo and Hyderabad.

So yes, thank you for the measurement!

That is a really nice scheme on the fortifications.

Too bad that they only bring back the basic pieces. The big gun pieces would for sure get me hooked

I don't need any more of these, but happy for people who missed out on them.

Hopefully they bring back the late WHFB era terrain too.

WHFB terrain would be way more exciting to me, and I think those kits sell for way more these days.

I'd be super into getting my hands on a reasonably priced Witchfate Tor or Skullvane Manse. Even direct from GW they'd be way cheaper then getting them off trading sites. They'd have too be. No possible way GW could charge 500 dollarydoos for it, right. RIGHT?

Maybe there will be another MtO terrain with other sets like the Plasma Obliterator, Aquilla Strongpoint, Vengeance Batteries, Void Shield Generator and Fortress of Redemption.

The last two they could do tomorrow as they were regular sprues produced in-house. The former three however were weird plastic that came in bags. Not sure if they can do those again.

Man, I’m really tempted by this.

Would 4 defense lines and 2 each of the bunkers and emplacements make a good siege table?

One of them filthy casuals...

I really, really want to be able to get an Aquila Strongpoint without having to make a human sacrifice to the dark gods.

They're clearly designed to look like trenches while not actually being trenches because short of raising the rest of your playing surface on foam you can't dig a trench in a table. That was my point and I think if a defense line is all someone wants there are much, much better options than getting these and cutting them up. I.e. I think Kanluwen's idea is awful.

They re-issued the barbed alien forest stuff for a Kill Team box so I guess they can.

Note how they are called out trenches.

They are supposed to represent trenches in a way that's technically feasible for sellable product.

Except they're not trenches. And they're not called out as trenches. They're said to be trench-like, which means they aren't.

That's why I never liked the trenches that many companies offered, as they were designed to be a rise from the ground. At least the Wall of Martyrs are clearly pre-fab battlements, rather than fake-dug in. I appreciate that detail, even if the endless dead Cadians is a bit much even for them.

GW can do a lot of things, but we all know the thing they're best at is missing opportunities.

I passed on Skullvane Manse twice (original release and when it was in MTO). Originally it was released close enough to the other stuff like the Fortified Manor, Witchfate Tor and Dreadstone Blight that I passed on it despite thinking it was really cool. During its MTO run, it was during AOS and I was out of it (I never got into AOS so was out of "fantasy"), but still debated on getting it still but ended up passing. Third time the charm? GW?

Just to note, if you do a 2x2 Bastion you will not have enough joining bits for the floors. You should be able to fill the gap with plastic card or plastic rod, but keep it mind. It's also easy to replace the floors with plastic card if you need another size.

Ah, for the days when I you could just order the Bastion floor sprue from GW directly.

Or y'know, Bastions in general. They weren't quite the 40k Legos I want, but they were close.

I wish they'd bring back the Fortress of Redemption for MTO. Once I decided I wanted one it had gone direct only and entered the dreaded perpetually out of stock state on the website.

I'm noticing that the items in this batch don't include anything with prominent weapon emplacements that would require rules support to use so I'm doubtful the Fortress is a candidate for a future MTO.

Sector Imperialis is 40k Lego. A MTO of that would be amazing, especially if they brought back things like the Sector box with the 3 panel walls, Battle Sanctum with diagonal walls and railings, and building with the 4 small statues and flying buttresses.

FYI: on the Martyr bunker, don't glue the steps on either side of the bunker door, pin it instead, otherwise the bunker can't connect to the trench system.
